So...a simple oil change and tire rotation turned into a free lowering too.

The car did a nose dive off the lift, the legs of the lift gave out and the rest of the car slammed to the ground.

Good times.....

check out the links for some pics (hopefully they work)

I had just walked onto the shop floor with one of the techs so he could show me the rear pads and give me a quote. As I stood next to the car, it literally tipped up, the nose crashed into the floor, the legs of the lift came out from under the car and the rest crashed to the ground. I was less than 3 feet from the car as it happened. No one was hurt thankfully.

Damn.. I'm sorry to see this happen to your car. Of course the TL is nose heavy but the guy who put your car on the lift is the tard.

Wow! I assume no one was working on it when the lift failed? Whose dime is this on?

Yeah, he was a tard. The other techs were mumbling that they shouldn't have brought him back in (to work, I'm guessing). It's on their insurance, but i'm already getting a runaround. That's ok...I've danced with the insurance companies before....

Depending on what you have planned (replace with another TL or not), I'm not sure if I'd replace the vehicle that their dealership unless they gave you a great dealer on the new one. Although the INS claim wont cost the business a penny, some business act like it's coming out of their pocket; depending on how often claims are filed it sort of might me.

Just Breaks did that to my old car back when I was in college. They refused to pay and their insurance gave me the runaround. I finally went through my own and the car was so old and cheep they declared it a total loss. At Just Breaks, they really don't care. If I knew now what I knew then, I would have dragged their ass into court.

Not sure what's going on yet Heart. Just had the car towed to the body shop that the Acura dealership swears by. I know of others who speak very highly of the body shop too. Some think it'll be totaled based on subframe damage and other damage not seen in the pictures.

It should be noted that this was not an Acura dealership that did this. It was a Midas.

what I didn't expect was to do a google search for "car fell off lift at shop..." this morning and see more stories of incidents like this elsewhere.

Wow, that's just crazy! Glad no one was hurt and you're not too upset about it. You have a much better attitude than I would that's for sure.

Are they covering you with a rental? Keep us updated, I'm always interested to hear how companies handle these types of situations.

They took me to Enterprise to give me a rental. All they had Monday night as they were closing was this pedophile wagon. I'm exchanging it later for something that doesn't scream Amber Alert...

Classy man, in a rapist van, Haha! Have fun with it, park near schools as you lurk and have lunch in your van. My personal favorite rental car activity is off-roading, regardless of the rentals ability.

^^ yup.. midas, jiffylube, and firestone are on my list of the worse places to bring your car in for service jobs.. but then again.. i dont trust american shops to touch my car.. import shops only if i need anything that needs to be installed or fixed.

There are markings on the side underneath for the center of gravity and are different on the front wheel drive from the AWD. The AWD are right in the middle.

Very sad. Good thing nobody got hurt.

At least it's not a '12+ SH-AWD (the only 4G TL's I think are worth getting).

Still an Acura and still upsets me.
