When do the 2011's come out?

Hey guys,

Something happened to my 2010 TL SHAWD, and I may need to buy another car soon.

Does anyone know when the 2011 TLs are coming out?

If it's only 1 or 2 months, i'll try to borrow a car. However, if it's like 6-8 months away, I may need to just get another car. The reason I want to wait is to see if there are any new features that are coming with the newer model. Thanks!

I think the 2011s will be out towards fall, so September-ish? I'd doubt any significant changes for 2011. Acuras usually get their mmc in the 4th model year, which would be 2012 for the TL.

What happened to your TL?

I'd wait if I were you as the grille most definitely is getting "toned down" and there's the possibility of a 6AT - that's if you were driving the 5AT previously.

For sure they'll have the 6AT for the TL if the ZDX & MDX both have no problem with it, but Acura won't listen to us and change the grille.

Our GM has mentioned in meetings that the grille will be "toned down" for 2011 model year...it's the one thing that's killing their bread-and-butter sedan - you think they'll wait another 18 months? C'mon they're not that stupid. BTW, take a look at the pics of the new TSX Wagon coming out - they're even changing the grille on the TSX - logic says that if they're altering the TSX grille, they're doing it to the TL.

^^If they are planning a revision for 2011 vs. the usual 2012 MMC, it would make sense to keep this info under wraps. There are still 6-8 months of 2010s to sell.

Just came from the dealer and saw a white one with the "sports grill" and 18" wheels. This sports grill is all chromed (simulated) rather than the painted silver look. IMO it looks 10 times better and richer. That silver painted grill (and back piece) was one of the things that made the stock grill look bad. They should use that as the stock grill.

The grill will be changes for 2011 but you are gonna get a much better buy on a 2010. Just buy the 2010 and get the grill painted or replaced.

Yes, this is a good time to get a TL if you are on the fence. Probably the best prices right now due to the time of year, economy, etc. I just finished scoping the market for a new car for my daughter. Looked at the 3 series, G37, and TL. G37 was a strong option but my bias towards Acura’s and the strong deals available right now made me get the TL. Here's the details:

2010 TL with Technology Package and 18-inch wheels
White Diamond Pearl
Ebony Leather

Accessories:
  • Splash Guards
  • Body Side Molding
  • Sport Grille
  • Rear Sport Trim
  • Trunk Tray
  • Trunk Drawer
MSRP: $41,710

Lease numbers are pretty good (0.00117 mf and 57% residual). But Acura Finance has $2250 dealer money on the table. I was able to do it a few hundred below invoice PLUS the entire $2250. That’s a skinny deal for them and they probably made little but the holdback.

I bought another TL for my other daughter last October right after they first came out, and I’m paying $617/month for that one. It’s configured the same except that lease has 15k miles a year.

Bottom Line on this deal:
- 36m/12k Lease
- $1782 due at signing
- $529/month (tax inc.)

That's a nice number for a $41k+ car. The dealer money is available through April.

I hear you Colin, I definitely wouldn't admit this to a potential buyer but at the same time, nobody's really taking a sniff at this car right now anyways - we're mostly selling MDX's, a few TSX's, a few RDX's and a ZDX here and there. I've pretty much given up on this car - it's frustrating.

Sorry to hear about that. I trust you're OK? How did the TL do in a side impact, was the passenger cell still intact? I remember seeing photos of a third generation TL (still have them I think) and the amount of damage was frightening, but the driver escaped with a few cuts and bruises.

Craig,

That's too bad.

I'm looking at leasing either a new TL, TL SH-AWD, G37X or ES350 at the end of May. The residuals on the TL are better than the G37x and the ES350 (even though they just dropped the TL residuals by 1%).

I think that the TL is the best value of the bunch, and although my first choice would be the G37x, it goes over the budget I've set for myself.

Do you think that Acura is going to do anything to help push these cars even further?

That's what their boyfriends keep saying, lol

The third one has a Lexus IS. That's what she wanted eventhough I told her she would regret it. No comparison between the cars eventhough the MSRP was just about the same.

I have three teenage daughters all 1 year apart. 19, 18, 17. It was fun 19 years ago but I didn't think about this back then. Should have spread things out a bit more. Learn from my mistakes guy

I love and hate your deal.

I love that you got an amazing deal on a great car.

I hate that we get screwed up here in Canada on car pricing.

Congrats on the deal.

It's an extremely good deal even for here. I don't always get this lucky. Timing was just right. But, i agree with you, Canada takes it up the (you know what) compared to U.S. buyers. Don't know why. Is it government taxes/import fees? Smaller demand? I don't know.

I might be able to get another 2010 SHAWD for $40k (after california taxes, and all fees but before financing, i'll get the 1.9%)

Is that a good deal?

What's the taxes? better question is; What's the negotiated price BEFORE taxes? Also, which TL SHAWD are you referring too? Any accessories added?

A little more info and people can probably give you an opinion on it

We still need to know which TL you are referring too as well as if there are any accessories added. That can change the target price several thousand dollars Jason.

Edit: I see you just edited your post too include those other items. That will help

I have no idea man...I hope something else is going to be done, especially now that our loonie is par with the greenback.

I will say one thing - the TL with the Ron Jon Grille looks MUCH better.

Craig,

But after getting killed for the first couple of months (before the lease rate reductions) Acura sales were up 50.6% in March, so things should be getting better.. Some of that 50.6% had to be TL's, or are they still not moving?

I think that because there is hype and reviews stating that the look is "polarizing" that it's putting unnecessary doubt in some people's minds. They are great cars (especially the SH-AWD version) and if the style wasn't mentioned in the reviews, it would be moving much better.

People are psyching themselves out of buying it, from others perceptions...

Hopefully, I will add to the numbers at the end of May...

Hey Jason, that car has an msrp of around $43,400. Add your sales tax of 9.75% and you're at $47,631. Wow, you guys in CA pay a lot of taxes! Is this what we can expect to be paying soon everywhere to get our "free" healthcare? Anyway, I digress.

If the bottom line on your deal sheet REALLY says $40k then that's a great offer given your taxes. You're getting all the Acura dealer money, the dealers profit, plus a little of their cost too. They are basically losing money on that deal. Seems suspicious. Tell them to put that on paper. Does this involve a trade in? if so, what car are you trading in and what mileage? Did you check NADA for a fair trade in value?

Well, When i bought my 2010 SHAWD (the one that got totaled) it was $41,000 on the deal sheet. So i put $10k down and took a loan of $31,000 + the 1.9% interest.

I got a call shortly after from another dealer that said they could do it for $40,000. So i'll be in contact with that dealer soon.

Thanks Mikey

If that include your CA sales tax then you really can't do better than that. They are taking $7-8000 off. Feel very good about it. If it turns out you're mistaken and that number is before tax and fees then seems they are offering you the Acura dealer incentive money plus a little markup from the MSRP. Can't say if that's a "good" deal or not. Depends on your area, competition, etc. Certainly a fair deal. Good luck and glad you are OK after getting broad sided like that.

Nah it's not an error. The TL's are pretty hard to move in socal. You know, the land where 3 series and c class (and, until recently, the lexus ES/IS) obliterate anything else in terms of luxury sales. You can ask 10 people what luxury car they want and you'd have a large number say benz/bmw/lexus.

I'll have pics up soon.

That is a smoking deal! You will NOT find a better price unless bigger rebates come out or if you buy a demo.

That puts the price of an awd tech around $36,400!

Yeah see they need an older brother to keep the boyfriends in check....

Oy vey that's rough.... I'll keep that in mind I want to start a family by 30. My girl isn't digging the whole four legged child deal too much longer she wants a baby and fast lol.

Your daughters are very lucky to have a loving father willing to buy them very nice cars at such young ages.

Back on topic I am VERY curious to see if the grille is toned down in the same fashion as the 2011 TSX Wagon. It retains whatever it is they wanted to express from that shield, but is much more scaled back and less polarizing. That would make the TL pretty enticing to some who have been hesitant to pull the trigger.

They've now tried a few variations. In my opinion the latest one I saw on the TSX wagon is the winner. The TL is the worst of them. Too big and out of proportion with the other features in the front. I suspect they realize it and will be producing something more subtle in the future revisions of the TL and other models.

I'm just glad they started offering the "sports grill" option. I forgot to mention that this is on the new white TL I just bought also. The dealer had put it on my car before I bought it. I agree with them. The fully chromed grill andn tall piece looks SO much better on a white TL. The silver doesn't look so bad on darker cars, but it clashes badly against the pearl white. Not enough contrast so it almost looks like someone made a mistake and put a part from a silver car on a white car.

Can you post some pictures with the chrome grill and rear piece on the WDP when you get some time - I have the WDP and am looking at switching out the 2 pieces as well, espeically with how well it may go with the chrome trim on the car, and then the chrome rims I just added as well.

Sure. I haven't taken possession yet. Waiting for the accessories to come in and be installed today. probably pick it up tomorrow and I'll take some photos. It's all a matter of personal preference of course, but everyone at the dealer seems to agree also. In fact, they are putting these optional chrome pieces on all the white TL's that come in. It looks identical to the stock grill, except the entire piece is high gloss chrome like the Acura emblem. On a darker car it may actually cause the grill to stand out more (which some may not want). But against pearl white it blends better, especially in the back next to the chrome badging near by.

It looks identical to the stock grill, except the entire piece is high gloss chrome like the Acura emblem. On a darker car it may actually cause the grill to stand out more (which some may not want). But against pearl white it blends better, especially in the back next to the chrome badging near by.
Here's some photos of a white TL with the new chromed sports grill. It was a bright day and I took the pictures with my phone, but you get the idea. In person, it really themes better with the rest of the car's accents. Silver painted pieces just looked terribly out of place agaisnt the white

Yeck!....Personally, I think the chrome grill looks worse on a white TL than the silver one....way too much contrast....you could probably see the beak a mile away! In my opinion, I think the chrome grill would look better on a dark car like CBP or maroon.
