Whats the big difference between Tech and Advance package?

My good buddy is thinking of buying a new 2012 and wanted to know the big difference between tech and advance packages?

I told him to go for the tech package but I'm a little biased.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The big difference is a couple of thousand dollars!. But what you get for that are 18" wheels on the FWD model (versus 17"), front seats that are cooled (I guess extra air vents that direct air to the seat bottoms), and the blind spot warning system.

eazy, the tl with tech package does not include the blind spot warning, or the cooled seats.

the tl with tech & advance package includes all the features.

the advance was not offered on the 09-11 tl. so it is new for 2012 tl's.

some people have said the constant blinking in the mirror, can get annoying.

the owners in the northern states, i dont see needing the cooled seats? not very long hot summers, like down south.

The above posts are correct ... sort of.

The seats are "ventilated" not cooled. Meaning that air is PULLED AWAY from them, not injected into them.

I really like the blind spot system. It should be on every car manufactured - great safety feature.

The decision comes to personal preference and nothing more. The Advance model is not "better" per se, it simply has a few additional options.

thanks for the info, i have a 2009 tl w/tech package and love it. i'd love to see what the 2012 advance has to offer and compare the differences.

are there a lot of differences between a 2009 and 2012? i'm guessing i'll enjoy mine for a few more years and get the 2014 i presume.

FYI, the BSI does not constantly blink.. it only blinks if a car is in your blind spot and your turn signal is on on that side

sorry Stew. ithought i read that the BSI would blink even if the signal is not turned on.?

i was misinformed, and seeing that your tl is a 2012, you know what your talking about.

Stew, on a side note..... how does your tl look with a bwp grille? looks good with the dark one.

im thinking about a painted or RJgrille.

The biggest physical difference is the 6 spd. auto tranny. Big enough reason to get a 2012 in my opinion. I would not have purchased a TL is if didn't offer the 6 spd. auto.

Just the smooth shifting 6AT on the 2012 TL alone by itself, is well worth the upgrade from a pre-2012 5AT TL.

No problemo at all, I just wanted to clarify that little tidbit.

As for the BWP grille, I have not swapped it out yet. I like the black one so much that I haven't wanted to change it

I just re-read what I wrote and I'm laughing.

Obviously I meant 2012 vs. others. LOL.
