What Kind of Mileage are you Getting?
I just got a 2010 TL Base (Black on Black) a couple of weeks ago and was wondering if the mileage improves over time?

2010 TL AWD 6MT: New King
For my driving, I estimate 50% city/50% freeway.
At 8000 miles, I'm getting around 25mpg, pretty good considering the TL is AWD, 305hp, and weighs 3900lbs (give or take).

On my 09 SH-AWD I was averaging 20.8 overall, but noticed the milage seemed to increase around 15K miles which was right after winter, so it might have happned sooner, but winter fuels didn't allow it to show.

It's funny that you brought this up because I was going to post about it too!
For my 2010 SH-AWD, I just got about 19.7mpg with my first tank and included 50% local driving and 50% short freeway trips (10-15 miles each time). I am pretty happy about that! I expected that to increase appreciably in time too :-) Mind you, I have been babying my car and so I have been driving like a grandma and surely that helped with the gas consumption........ :-)
BTW, I found the trip computer to be pretty accurate - I got 20.4mpg on display and the manual method showed 19.7mpg. That is pretty darn close!

My mileage is slowly improving as I accumulate more miles (now about 3K). In my experience, Japanese motors don't return optimal mileage until about 30K miles.
I'm now averaging 24.4 MPG, in about 1/2 highway, 1/2 urban/suburban driving. (The trip computer shows an average speed of about 35 MPH). Lately, tanks of gas have consistently been reading about 25 MPG, even with the A/C running more during the summer.
Given the car's capabilities, I'm more than pleased with my mileage. That said, if you push the car, the MPG drops pretty rapidly.

I feel strongly both ways
Averaging about 21mpg in combined driving. But you have to understand, here in NYC the term "city" driving really means city. Not that relaxed suburban driving that most of you probably consider "city." And I have a pretty heavy foot. From what I've heard you could count on at least 3mpg less from the AWD car.

I'm at 20.4 mpg, after 4000 miles driven.
My first tank off the lot, I only got 14.8 mpg, driving the way I was used to in my 335i.. had to change my driving habits a little. Brought my over mpg to 20.4 with about 80% highway, 20% city, with quite a few hills.

Just took a trip to New England. On the open road with A/C on, you can figure about 27.5 mpg. Once you hit true stop and go traffic that'll drop to about 20 mpg. That's for the 3.5 FWD car. Like I said, figure about 3 mpg less for the AWD car. And, of course, that's assuming 91-93 octane gas.

Chevron 91 exclusively from the same station and pump, 17k miles, avg 560 miles per week on a 93 mile per day round trip commute of 50%hwy 50%city, averaging pen and paper full fills (to the brim) (and before you blast me I have an 6 mile drive to the house that dips it down at least a 1/4 gallon for expansion. I have done this with all of my vehicles and have never experienced a fuel related problem or failure) at 24.8mpg. Avg mpg's have been steadily increasing since about 10k miles.

TL-SHAWD 6MT Rocks!
31.6 mpg highway with no traffic this morning. 23 mile trip
22 city with traffic, 17 if I push the SH-AWD 6MT very hard.
The mileage has improved 3-4 mpg since I bought it.
it has now 23k miles on it.

an adult perspective
I think the question is based on actual fuel calculations based on dividing miles travelled by gallons taken on since last fill up. I have touched over 30 mpg within the first 10 miles of filling up also ... but that's not what is being asked.

I never let the tank go empty because there is a lot of dirt on the bottom and the gas filter is inside the tank.

My 2010 SH AWD auto gets between 19.8 and 20.3 each tank of gas. I drive mostly highway (avg speed 75) and i do not use high-test gasoline. My dealer recommended that i use the middle blend which I do most the time.
#26
So you use 89? I asked my dealer and he said only 91 or above. Any knocking?

Methinks your dealer is an idiot. Any possible savings you may realize from saving 5c/gallon is more than eaten up by the gas mileage you will lose. Maybe your dealer graduated from the prestigious Yugo School of Automotive Arts and Sciences.

3k MILES.....I leave "trip b" tracking my overall MPG, which comes in at 21.4 MPG. If I had to guess, that's 75% urban and 25% city driving overall.
I've hit 27 MPG on one tank....all highway, driving between 75 MPH-80 MPH.
Lowest was 17 MPG...all city, stop and go, using the A/C constantly, keeping my foot in it leaving every stop light.
I've found the car's computer to be close enough to my manual calculations (via "Gas Cubby" on my iPhone) that there's no reason to cross check anymore.
So far, quite pleased as I figure the MPG will only get better as the miles pile on.

I just came back from a 750 mile all-highway round trip.
FWD, 93 octane, 75mph with the A/C on.
I got 30.2 on the car's computer.
Otherwise, my around town driving is at 20.

I purchased and picked up my 2010 TL SH-AWD Tech just over a week ago. Already put 450 miles on the car. I'm getting about 21-23 combined. Which really sucks... compared to my 3G that was getting 27 combined. However, they aren't that comparable and my car still is very new.
I would like to see what kind of gas and oil people are using? That could attribute to slight differences.
For my 3G TL (Base), I only used Shell 93 Octane V-Power, and only got Synthetic Oil (Dealer only carries Mobile One, so that's what went in).
Odometer Reading: 450 Miles
Highest Highway Trip: 29 MPG
Combined Milage: 21 - 23 MPG
Gas Used: 93 Octane V-Power
Oil Used: (No Oil Change Yet, plan to use Mobile One Synthetic)

I have a 2009 TL SH/AWD with over 26K miles. On a recent trip down to Florida from Maryland, over 2,600 miles I averaged 27-29 MPG, highway driving mostly which was typically between 75-85 MPH. I had a 2006 Audi A6 that was more efficient, but it also didn't have 305 horses.
