What car would you trade your 4G TL 6MT for?

What car would you trade your 4G TL 6MT for?
The 4G TL 6MT is definitely unique; polarizing exterior aside, it has S4 level performance, rare 6 speed manual in AWD/midsize form, good sized interior room for a family of 4 (though suffering quite ab it IMHO wrt utility), and traditional Acura reliability.
For discussion's sake, what car are you considering after owning the TL 6MT? 3 AZ users I am aware of have went for the S4 manual, S5 auto, and A6. As of now though, IMHO it has too many characteristics of a "middle ground" of its competitor vehicles to justify me trading it in...for now...
Here are my thoughts:
1) 911: I personally have longed after a CPO 911 as my next vehicle; though the longer I think about it, trunk space though may be a issue unless I have a 911 as a 3rd car
2) S4: I gave the S4 a brief thought. IMHO since the TL 6MT and S4 have near equal performance, I give the nod towards the TL due to better reliabilty and interior size, so I take the S4 out of the equation. The only reason IMHO if I were to trade in my TL 6MT is if I wanted an Audi badge.
3) S5: Since it's a 2dr with style, unlike the 4dr S4, and as Acura does not currently have a coupe.
4) A6: A friend of mine ordered a 2013 A6 Prestige. Definitely an awesome car with cool tech. But IMHO it also seems a bit more luxury than sport, but very nice.
4) Tesla Model S: lots of room, great styling, cool tech, utility/trunk space, and no gas! Only thing is no AWD yet and unknown reliability.
5) MB: Not really a fan of Benz, so no MB models on my list
6) BMW: just too many BMWs on the street, so it's off my list
7) 2013 RS5: The RS5 has really gotten my attention
Smoking performance, good interior tech, AWD, aggressive looks; only issue here is I don't know if it will offer rear folding seats and I don't know if Audi has addressed carbon buildup issues with its DI engines. If the 2013 RS5 offers rear folding seats and Audi has redesigned the engine to combat the carbon buildup, it's a possible winner in my book, perhaps even over the more commonplace 911

Good question. I hadn't really considered it since I love my MT TL and won't be thinking of replacing it for some time.
If you want an MT in this size of car, there aren't really many options, as you point out. Especially if you also want AWD. With the possible exception of the Audi sport diff, there aren't many AWD systems out there in this size of car that can perform the miracles that SH-AWD does. Because of cost/value and reliability concerns, I am pretty sure I could not bring myself to buy an Audi. Too many friends with too many catastrophic-type failures - things you would never even think about on an Acura/Infiniti/Lexus.
If forced to an alternative tomorrow, I guess I'd look at the new Lexus GS F Sport or the G37 replacement - but no manuals in either of those. Who knows what the TLX will bring.

Strictly on a hardware basis (6MT+AWD), I might consider the S4/5 but I especially like all the Honda attributes and the size and value bonuses of the TL in comparison. Honestly, if the slection of this type of hardware is limited to nothing on my next go around, I may opt for a 2013 TL 6MT or 2014 if they extend it another year.
Hopefully there will be a few new players in that game but if I have to dump the 6MT torque vectoring AWD and mid size requirements altogether, I will look at the TLX and RLX and if I'm not convinced either are compelling enough of a sports sedan, than I'll take the added comfort and utility of the next MDX instead.

Difficult question for me. If I did live in a warmer climate there are many more choices...
If we are talking about replacing it with another large AWD sedan these are my thoughts:
Audi absoutely not, too boring....maybe the only one I may consider is the A7 but I lose the stick....and the reliability factor is scary

Doc, Audi does not really have any "badge" so to speak....is not BMW or Mercedes....
Badge wise is on par with the other Japanese luxury brands....

Haven't even thought about it. I think I will stay with Acura anyway since this is my 4th one, great combination of price/luxury level/manual tranny/unique style etc...
I like S5, maybe but only if it's a lease while covered by factory warranty and my kids are grown... he he he

I believe Americans, in general, give Audi more or less the same prestige factor of the luxury Japanese brands.....

The S5 does have rear folding seats, so I imagine the RS5 does also. As far as the carbon build-up issue ... I think the engine in the RS5 is too new to know if this problem will exist, but I'd be surprised if it was built to specifically address it. And then ... there is the exclusivity. S5's aren't all that common ... I've not come across more than a handful and usually only see them on the freeways ... but with a 1500 run for the RS5 ... even more so.

Coming from the Philly auto show, I'm really liking the redesigned (2014?) Lincoln MKZ with AWD
hopefully my 2010 TL will be paid off by then and I'll be back in the market to get a new (better looking) car

I really can't think of one. I had a Perrin Stage III Evo X GSR a couple cars ago. I really miss it sometimes, but I don't miss the fear of it exploding in to oily pieces of metal every time I put my foot to the floor and 26 PSI raced through it. :-)
There are a couple cars that are in the same category that I think are sexier than the TL, but ease/familiarity of wrenching and modding, reliability (so far), low cost of OEM parts should I ever need them, the balance of simplicity and the availability of a 6MT etc. make me really enjoy the TL.

Nonetheless, the average Joe on Acurazine or on the street are not likely to track their cars and unlikely to utilize these autos to their fullest capabilities. Probably just the occasional red light burn out or the highway on ramp romp. All these numbers are probably just there to stroke our egos.

I don't own the 6MT, but from what I'm hearing from folks in Germany Audi(Porsche)>BMW>MB are how they rank their own products...they're a little dazed and confused by American choice for BMW.
