it's where you plug one of these
Amazon Amazon
Then you download the TORQUE APP and you can read your own CEL codes and delete them and watch what your engine is doing.

Pretty awesome!

And this forum is maturing, when I read the title I expected at least one "that's where your flux capacitor is supposed to be. Someone must have stolen it!".

Yup and if you get the "snapshot" device from progressive insurance that will go there as well. I did "snapshot" and got a 20% discount on my policy!

only for a month.
only monitors certain aspects, like hard braking.

a 20% discount is worth it.

no, it cant HURT you.
if the snapshot device deems you a wreckless driver, you just wont get the discount.

20% is pretty good...I'd take it, and pop it in my grandmother's car...then go do reverse doughnuts in my TL.

As little as 3 months but I kept mine in for 6 months - not sure if the extra time made a difference or not on the discount.

While they keep track of speed they have no way of knowing what the limits are on the roads you're on. I rarely go more than 5 mph over the limit anyway. They mostly keep track of mileage driven and how many times you have to hit the brakes "hard".

True. My 20-year old son didn't get one due to excessive hard braking. OTOH, my wife got 30% on her Odyssey!

Wouldn't work - the device is specifically calibrated for the vehicle and will only work on the registered car.

I think my friend probably misinterpreted what they were looking for and expected to get half off for not going around every corner sideways

Overall with the snapshot devices my insurance dropped from around $1900 per 6 months down to $1600 for 6 months - full coverage for 3 vehicles. I'd say it is worth it if you're a safe driver.
