Upgrade base to Tech package

Hi,
I'm new to Forum and proud new owner of 2009 Acura tl base package.
Very happy with the car in it's current state. I was wondering if it was possible at all to upgrade base package to tech package. Has this been done and how much. I'm looking forward to a new future with the Acura tl. Thanks

Would it be possible? Maybe. Would it be expensive? Most definitely. Would it be worth the effort? No. Sorry you are feeling buyer's remorse but most people who buy the Base later wish they had spent the extra money for the Tech (I made the same mistake in 2004 and didn't repeat it with my 08 and now 2010). If you really want the Tech I would suggest a trade-in.

It also depends on what aspect of the tech package you want to upgrade to. Is the nav? The sound system? The perforated leather? Spoiler? Keyless start? To upgrade all this stuff would be impossible/cost prohibitive. To upgrade one or two maybe possible

you should just trade your car for a tech, because the difference wouldnt even cover the parts and labor you need to pay in order for you to put tech in your base..

The tech is awesome, you wont be disappointed.

When I first stepped into the first tech package, I was like "I need this car!"

Try out the tech and see if suits your needs, easy enough right? I think the best attributes with the tech is the sound system and the rear camera!

i honestly have never heard of it being done since most people end up picking up the tech package to begin with. however if you really want it i would keep an eye out for a wrecked TL w/nav and see if you can put it in your car. its' gonna be a huge headache and expensive and i would probably advise you to trade it in for a tech one. good luck

Last week I traded-in my 2009 TL(BASE) for a 2012 TL TECH...It was bugging the shit out of me that I didn't have a TECH for the last 2.5 years.

Love the TECH package...

If you can get the TECH...

Yeah, unfortunately, you would have probably saved a lot more money if you just got the tech package in the first place.

That is so true. I bought a 2008 Base TL, brand new, loved it. But a year later, I thought I should have got the one with Nav. So, I called the dealer to find out how much it will cost me to get the Nav in, I was thinking may be around 5K, the dealer laughed at me and said, his words, "I think it will be cheaper for you to trade-in your Base and buy a 2008 one with Nav." So... I am guessing it was gonna cost me close to 10K to get that "upgrade".

BTW, I didnt do that, in case someone is wondering.

Not sure if that comment was towards me...but its true I did end up paying little more.

I paid $10K more. But I look at it about $6K more because the difference between NON TECH and TECH is about $4K.

So I paid $6K for a new 09 TL for 30 months($200/month)...that's pretty good isn't ???

Leason learned...

Thanks for all your advice. I just got the car only 2 weeks, I don't think I'll be trading it in anytime soon. Guess I'll just have to stick with what I got for now. If anything, I'll probably get one of those license plate back up camera with video on rear view mirrors. Any advice on that?

Well, the back up camera is great except for those cold northern mornings when the lens frosts over. The TL tech has every other outside surface heated EXCEPT the gosh darn backup camera lens. So if you are doing a custom install it might be useful for you to add a lens defroster.

I have a 2014 SE that has most
of what I need but just wanna get the audio lcd and the backup camera don’t care about the nav. You can find the parts cheap on eBay my question is does the base model have the connection on the harness there already for plug and play hook ups ?
