The Unofficial "what would you trade your TL for" thread
I decided to start this since I was really bored while at work and went on used car websites and ebay and started looking at cars just for fun (i know im not the only one guilty of this even after just buying a brand new car a few months ago). While I was looking for a car over the summer i came pretty close to following the crowd and buying the name and came pretty close to buying a used 07-08 BMW 530xi. I could have gotten a used one with 30k+ miles for roughly the same price as a fully loaded TL with AWD and tech ($40k +/- 3k). I decided that i could not justify buying a car just to go with the crowd and even more so I hated the interior of the 5 series and performance what nothing compared to the tl IMHO.
Long story short I have loved the BMW M5 since the new body came out in 06 and its been one of my dream cars since, and really, who wouldnt want a 500hp V12 monster in their garage? MSRP on a new M5 is roughly $90k so I thought only the fortunate few could own this car. I was shocked to see that 06-07 M5's with 30k miles were going for $35-40k all over the US. It really made me start thinking what if I actaully had the opportunity to do a straight up trade right now for such a true performance machine which many would describe as an exotic or supercar...well maybe not supercar but you see where im going with this.
I have no regrets about buying my tl and although I LOVE my tl and it is a much better fit for me given my age (as if a 21 year old needs a $40k car lol) and I need AWD where I live, I really cant say that I would not trade in my tl right now for a certified used black on black 2007 M5 with 30k miles on it given the opportunity.
Anyone with similar thoughts is more than welcome to share.

Glad I'm not the only one that does this
I love my car, and don't see me selling it for a very long time. But if I came into some serious money, (enough where my wife would let me blow some of it on a sports car). I would get a new Nissan GTR. Supercar for under 100k, where do I sign up.

^^^ the M5 is a V10 just to clarify. The M5s and E55/63s depreciate like crazy but I don't think you'd lose too much money if you can buy a nice used one for around 40k, play around with it for a year, then sell it back.
I like my car a lot and plan to keep it around for a long time as well.
If I had the $$ I'd probably look into buying a 2nd car, which would be a Viper GTS in my case
