Trunk space

Trunk space
I have a 2007 Type-S and I am thinking of getting the 2010 TL. The trunk space in the 2010 (same as 2009) looks smaller. I can put three golf bags in my trunk. Do you think I will be able to do that in the 2010?

3 might be pushing it. I can get 2, both cart bags. Maybe 3 slim walking bags.

I'm not saying it does. I was just assuming (and you know what that can do to you! ) as the AWD model has that ledge at the back of the trunk to accomodate the AWD mechanism. That takes up some volume as you can't just slide an object to the back but now have to lift it up to the ledge - and watch it fall back down.

No problem - have had 4 bags in the trunk. I am amazed how much wider the trunk is that other cars - well at least the opening. No need to remove the drivers etc. Come to think of it I have not tried a long putter yet.
This trunk is way big enough for 3-4 bags. One issue that bugged me about the 4GTL was that the back seats do not fold down. You can pretty much turn a sedan into an SUV with seats coming down - you can have room for all sorts of stuff - including flight bags for clubs. However my wife went to pick her mother up from the airport - hard case + golf clubs. With the back seats not folding down I was a little nervous about the club bag lying across the back seats in my new TL. When they came back - everything was in the trunk!! I was amazed.
Hope this helps.

2010 TL AWD 6MT: New King
But let me play devil's advocate: The 09/10 A4 has rear folding rear seats, yet still has a 5 star rear crash test rating like the 4G TL. So does the A4 have less structural durability than the TL? Or is the A4 designed sufficiently different than the TL to allow folding rear seats and still retain 5 star rear crash ratings?
In other words, if the 4G were modded for folding rear seats, would it loose its all around 5 star crash rating?

Structural rigidity is more for laying down the power, traction and keeping the car from flexing and not safety. For safety you don't want structural rigidity but something that gives and spreads the energy out and away from the cabin.

They need to create more of a solid rear because of the uneven weight distribution but on the other hand because of that you get a much larger more comfortable car in a luxury segment than what the competition offers, especially given the price. It's also a large part of why Acura has been able to make the best handling FWD and front biased AWD vehicles to date. The drawback, no split folding rear seats.

2014 MDX Tech / sh-AWD
There's no excuse for Acura not to offer them. I don't think Acura's are any safer than Audi's or BMW's which offer that feature. The same applies to the passenger heated front seat. Acura's statement that the back cushion is not heated and only the bottom one is because of the occupancy sensor is BS. If other manufacturers can do it there's no reason why Acura can't too...
