Trunk Release w/dead battery 6MT

Does anyone know how to easily open the trunk when the battery is dead or not charged enough to release when pressing the key or trunk release in the cabin for a 2012 TL SH-AWD?

I read some past posts that mention a trunk release that is accessible via the pass through in the back seat but I didn't see a trunk release. Upon examining the trunk I did see a plastic release that is built into the top of the trunk latch area but is not practical to reach from the pass through.

Am I missing something obvious or is the car designed that way? I'd like to know given I have kept a pair of jumper cables in the trunk but now question if I'd be able to get to them!

It's rare for the battery to get that drained, since most of the electronics turn off in our cars. (headlights, interior lights, etc).

the amount of juice it takes for it to release the trunk isnt much at all. if ur battery is drained THAT much, ur prob doing something wrong, or the car was sitting for a stupid amount of time. in an emergency, just use the ski pass to pop open the trunk to grab ur jumper cables. that plastic tab in the trunk is so ppl wont get locked in there.

all in all, you wont be able to access your trunk without power.. unless you got super long arms to reach from rear center arm rest whole to that trunk latch that is attached to the trunk lid.

if this issue ever persist.. just attach a car battery charger to the battery terminals and just pop your trunk.. it should work fine.

Open the passthrough. Reach up just above the opening and you will feel a plastic tab. You have to feel for it, you can't see it. Pulling the tab will unlock the trunk. The tab you are seeing far into the trunk is the release if a person should get trapped in the trunk.

Get a quick jump and drive it straight back to your dealership. Batteries that die under 3 or 4 years(not sure which) of purchasing the car is under warranty and will be replaced at N/C

Thanks for the info - I was looking for the tab and it took quite a while to find given it was trapped inside the top molding and certainly wasn't hanging. Once found it will be easy to locate in the event of a totally dead battery! Problem solved!

Don't be an expert if you're not

don't make statements if you don't have a clue what you're talking about there's lots of people that would tell you they got the aftermarket security system on their car they got aftermarket car stereo they went on vacation for a week they came back the car wouldn't start they couldn't use the key fob to open the doors battery was completely drained
lots of people will tell you I left my lights on on Friday after work want to leave for work on Monday morning my battery was completely dead wouldn't even turn over couldn't use the key fob to open the doors. there's also lots of people that will tell you I've done that multiple times and now my battery doesn't hold a charge and now I need a new one.
I already knew all this because I work on cars clearly you don't have a clue what you're talking about but with the age of the internet there's really no excuse for making ignorant comments
