Trunk lock and unlock question

I have noticed that I cannot open my trunk on my 09 tl once the engine is started using the remote key. Is this normal? I don"t think I paid much attention to this before as I do not drive the car much. I can do this with my Miata. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know it's normal.
BTW: You CAN lock & unlock the doors with the engine running
Remove the key from the fob, & manually lock & unlock
Great on a freezing day, when you want the interior warm, or vice-versa,
for a tropical day, as well

This is so that if the key fob is in your pocket and the trunk botton is pressed the trunk will not open while you are driving.

You mean like the lady I saw yesterday in her Mercury Grand Marquis with the trunk popped open and she had to pull to the side of the road to close it?

With the fob in the car and motor running can you just push the external trunk release button on the spoiler?
