Traded in the 2011 for the 2012
Traded in the 2011 AWD base/auto/WDP/Taupe for a 2012 AWD/Tech/Auto/BWP/Taupe yesterday. Traded it mainly for the Tech package.
Right of the bat, the car is much quieter compared to the 2011. Can not hear much of the engine noise inside the cabin. From the few miles I put on the car yesterday, didn't really feel any difference between the 5speed and 6 speed auto. For some reason, I feel the 2012 is smaller(inside) compared to the 2011. The 2011 felt bigger.
Attached are few pictures from the dealership lot.

On the 2011, I had the same interior and know what you are talking about. I used Leatherique to condition the leather and to clean the dye transfer.

Congrats on your new car as well. Black on Black is always my preferred combo, but maintaining black color and black interior in TX summer is horrible.

Same here. I love the taupe but my wife's 2011 MDX taupe interior is getting dirty already. I still have a 1999 3.2 TL black on black and the interior looked just as good as it did the way I bought it in 99. When it came time to buy my 2012 TL I decided on the same combo as a result.

Taupe color has grown on me. I had black and umber before on my BMW's, but taupe looks classy. I usually use leatherique twice a year on any color leather. So that should take care of any dirt
I may have to rethink my bias towards white cars now, because this thing is gonna look AWESOME with the tint, springs, and black wheels coming next week...
I have the Taupe interior too in a 2012 TL SHAWD and it does grow on you real well. I also had the blue dye transfer on a Parchment interior but it usually cleans off well with the right product.
Good luck with the new ride.
Good luck with the new ride.
Good for you
Its always great when one can change vehicle rapidly without losing too much. Enjoy your TL....I know I am

Congrats on yours too
There is a perception that White Cars are hard to keep clean. I would argue that this is a myth. I would not own any color than white and my new 2013 RDX is also white. Make sur eyou post pics when you have your upgraded done on yours...

Ya know, we bought ours in white and I wasn't feeling the love (had a TL and CL in black before). The past few days I have been looking at it more and more and it has really grown on me big time.
