Traded '09 for '12
Traded '09 for '12
Gave myself an early 24th birtday present and traded in my 09 AWD Tech Grigio/Ebony with 56k miles for a '12 AWD Advance CBP/Umber. Its pretty much fully loaded with the full body kit, side body moldings, etc. Also got the 7 year interior/exterior Enviroguard protection thing although im sure i wont be keeping the car that long anyway but with the black car i felt it was a good thing to have. Also getting the 3M clear bra put on the front bumper, hood, and mirrors before pick up. Took advantage of the acura loyalty program as well and got a grand from that which covered most of the clear bra and enviroguard cost. OTD price was $43k and took $22k on the trade. Just going to swap out my takeda intake at the dealer. Should be picking it up wednesday if all goes well. I never even considered the umber interior til i saw it on the lot and it will be a nice change as all of my cars have been black interiors. Ill post pics asap

Nice one man! I purchased an 09 TL w/ tech package and currently have about 42K miles on it. I'm considering pulling the trigger and trading on a new one....
Do you guys think thats a good idea? I still owe about 30K on mine though

Enjoy your umber.
What bells and whistles? Have you made zero payments? $27k + tax + supposed bells and whistles, minus 7-8 payments does not equal $30k. Once again your story doesn't add up. Even if you really own a 2009 CPO TL w/ tech package and owe $30k on it, you're about $8k upside-down on trade.
I got the car for 30K last August, but I got the extended warrantee and did not put down a penny. My APR is 3% for 6 years. I'm not even a year into my contract, so I still owe about 30K. Is that a good enough explanation hoss?
- Purchase price (including factory accessories or bells/whistles)
- Tax
- Trade-in amount, if any
- Acura Care price
- Anything extra and their price that got rolled into your loan
- When you purchased your TL (or when your first payment was due)

42K? Damm, you got raped. I'd never pay that much for an Acura, especially for the new TL. 04-08 is the best looking TL, you can't knock on the type S. Acura's engineers F*&^) up by not sticking with the 04-08 look like how Lexus IS been doing it.

Here is what we know:
APR: 3%
Term: 72 months
Current principal balance: $30k
Here is what we don't know, and what I assumed:
Purchase price: $35,000 (including tax, AcuraCare, "bells & whistles")
Purchase date: Aug 2011 (guessing from his AZ join date)
Payments made thus far: 10 (if payment started in Aug 2011, then by May 2012, he should be on his 10th payment)
Based on what we know plus the guesstimates, attached is his amortization schedule. So it is plausible that he still owes $30,000 by now. The only way to verify for sure is if he provides actual data points, which he didn't because he didn't post in the sign-in thread.

He got his car for 31k with 27k miles on it.
with zero down and 72 months payment you should be about $440 + a month.
now with that said.. if he got it back in august.. which is 9-10 months.. he should have already paid about 4000+ in payments.
so how does he still owe 30k on the car with 10 months payment of around 440+ a month??????
even with extended warranty and bells and whistles.. you paid about 4000 in total for those type of additions?
If so he lied about how much he paid for his car.. it should be 35k.
please show us some proof.
his story doesn't add up. period.

Okay, so with that information, it helps a little bit. Here are the assumptions:
Purchase price with bells & whistles and AcuraCare: $31,000
Tax: $2,712.50 (excluded from purchase price, based on CA state and LA county tax rate effective H2 of 2011, of 8.75%)
So below is his somewhat more accurate amortization schedule. The question now is when was his first payment due. Banks take 30-45 days to enter a loan and have the first due date payment. For example, I took delivery of my TL in April 24, but my first installment payment isn't till the 2nd week of June per loan contract.
Thanks! That must take a while to find.

so essentially he didnt buy his car for 31k, he bought it for 34k. and i didnt even add up the other fees like registration and APR
total would be 33712.50 in which if there is zero down in 72 months he would be paying 468.22 per month in which if he already paid 9-10 months it would equal up to 4000-4500 which would be correct and right at 29.5k

Remember that each month the payment contribution towards principal changes, hence the need for the amortization schedule.
