Took some pics of the 2012's today

I was at the dealership getting some work done to my car and got a peek at some of the 2012 TL's that are going on sale this week. Luckily they were side by side with some 2011's so I took a couple of quick shots with my cell to show the differences so I thought I'd post them on here.

It's not too much of an improvement.

2011 TL looks kinda old-fashioned compared to the 2012... but I guess that's kinda the point.

Looks softer, but I think that's good.

Thanks for the pics. I guess this throws the delay on the SH-AWD models I had heard about out the window, thankfully.

To me, the single biggest improvement is the smaller reflectors on the rear. If I could change one thing about the exterior of my '10, it would be that.

I think Acura did a nice job with the MMC.

Nice pics! Not much of a difference but I guess it makes the $40K+ price tag hurt just a little less....

I have to agree with you on that one. That's why I tinted mine a shade darker so they aren't so "in your face".
I also think the the bigger reflectors are going to be the first things that crack when some idiot hits my bumper.

oh man after seeing these I feel like trade in my 09 TSX and get the 12TL. Not sure which one to get the FWD w/Advance package or SH-AWD w/Tech Package. I herd both rides good but also the FWD have better fuel millege almost like the TSX maybe?

IMHO, the headlights are the only improvement. It went from looking too edgy to too dull. Given the choice, I prefer edgy, which is why I went for a 2011.

Wish that black one didn't have the wrapping on it, but the '11 looks sharp in that pic.

can anyone tell if there is a real difference between the SHAWD and the Base?

the spoiler comes w/ the tech pkg so it's there on either car

looks like the only thing separating them is the badge hmm..

As I and others have mentioned in other posts, the SH-AWD should have have kept the quad-tips dammit! I like be able to see the difference from a distance, in traffic, where ever, like we can with the Type-S and the 09-11 SH-AWD. I find those tips..sexy

If I get a '12, I will have to be a poser and get the tips from an 09-11

I see some things about the 11 that look sharper and more aggressive than the 12 and a few things that are okay touches on the 12 that went too conservative for my taste. If they would of kept the grille design and down sized it perhaps, now it is just so passive looking.

Hmmm, this confirms what I said before.....this new grill makes the pre-facelift design actually look like the newer model TL if you didn't know any better.

and WTF were they thinking about dropping those quad tips? I can't believe someone actually complained about that too.

Thanks for the pics!

Ever since we first saw pics of the rear of the SH-AWD, we complained about the terrible loss of the tips.. many complained.

I sure hope the wait isn't that long...

The side by side makes the 11 grill look like came off the wrong car. Darker colors bring attention to that.

Red face

The 2012 is ok, if you're buying one. But, I've gotten use to my "beak"... and loosing the quad exhaust is just another way to save on cost ...

2012 looks just horrible IMNSHO. The only tiny improvement I'd concede is the rear treatment. The front of the 2009/11 looks MUCH better.

This is the updated look of a 3rd gen the 4th gen should have always been. The rear is a HUGE improvement. The 4.5 Gen has a LOT more class in my book. This is the car ill be trading on a used one in 3-4 years. Good job Acura. I think you'll sell a lot more of this model compared to your mistake 09-11 model. It's amazing that the MDX is the best selling acura since the 09 model was released. Did you guys know this? This refresh will bring the conservative customers back to Acura. It shows Acura admits they did too much.

Again thank you. VTEC.net would like these pix i bet. If you email me the original pix, I can clean/ehance them and post them and also email copies back to you if you like. parasurfer1979@gmail.com

Sure do agree with you on this one. I would have liked a little bling action to the front as well. I always find myself looking at the Audi's & MB's with those awesome LED's.

Funny that you should say that because I can see that but it's subtle. I thought that the '11 grill reminded me of the Joker from the Batman cartoons.

I dont care what nobody says

the 09-11 TL's are hot ..they look really sporty and futuristic..it's aggressive as it should be standing different from the competition..the new one looks like the tried to make it more like the RL you want an RL or more luxury car go get one ..Meanwhile car companies are trying to bring back retro looks make their cars look like other cars ACURA made theirs look totally different and i guarantee 5/6 years from now the 09-11 TL will look better than most cars made in those years and just as hot as the newer ones.. & I don't have a bias because i own one ...I tend to break away from the norm so i guess that's why that car is so perfect for me ..

hey are you going to write a review?

what do you mean by quieter?
less wind noise?
less road noise?
better bump (noise) absorbtion?

the only real noise problem with the TL is it's bump absorbtion. It may absorb bumps well, but you hear and feel the bumps too much IMO.

thanks!

Audi's lights a re done right, however the MB's loook out of place. Dare I select a vehicle tha is state of the art design wise for it's lighting or for the frumpy quarter panels that are of a dated VW Jetta of Chrysler Sebring?

Please Acura don't add those ghetto mini hood ducts like the Infinit QX did to keep pace with Buick or ther designs.

I don't think the leds belong there.. they'd be copy-catting again. I thought we all like that Acura/Honda dosen't copy other mfgs.

I think there is some room to improve the looks and it may have to happen in my garage, if I get one, that is. Wheels and quad tips will be first.. then possibly audio depending on how they sound.

I haven't even been close enough to a 4G do touch one.. but that will change in 2 weeks!
