If ACURA just add that 2 blades to the grill and keep the main theme and design as its so its great thing. But if they change it in any how to be like TSX , RL or smaller or painting it they will kill this car for sure.
4G TL is special, unique and interesting design and the grill is a big factor in that,And in the same time you can't just ignore the 4G owners.
From my point of view ACURA did trebles for the 4G from the start when they said "its 3 series, A4 and G rival" the fact is 4G step up from 3G and its totally different car ,Its good for ACURA if they said it's new market segment "between 3 & 5 series" for ex.
The 4G design shocked the market and it's normal when idiots in the media and Internet insult the TL.
For the MMC they have to improve the bumpers design to show less overhang and they must come with really hardware upgrade like 6A and engine that's it.
ACURA do not change the main theme of the grill this car will be cheap and dump.

I love everything about the car. I personally think the Grill looks great, especially on my Crystal Black. If i didn't like the car, i wouldn't have bought it. Bottom line, it's different, not conservative like many cars, which is why you see tons of them. By being somewhat of a rare, unique car, i think that can help the re-sale value a bit too. Acura isn't the only market that has done some unique designs, look at the Toyota Echo, Honda Element, SmartCar just to name a few, but again, it's for a target market. I think Acura did very well with this design, and i like driving a car that makes people take a second look.

The current grill made of better material and better integrated with no protrusion near the sides, where it meets the headlights, and an added crossbar would do wonders.
I do think that what we are seeing for a new grill would definately tone it down and likely make it more acceptable for many but I think it really takes away from the overall design theme and doesn't suite it as well.

Cars that don't sell well don't hold value in the used car market competing against good selling cars. Some of the guys here who have gotten out of them have taken a thumping.
Honda is moving the MMC up 6 months to try to move more cars. If Acura did not think it was broke they would not have spent millions to fix it.

Please show me any other car in the same class as the TL that wouldn't take a big hit trading in a car within 1 1/2 to 2 years ?? You make yourself look like a fool with a statement like that.

I have not posted to a grill discussion until now....
I'd be curious to understand how Audi sales were impacted when they switched to their fembot/Captain Kangaroo Dancing Bear mouth design... Audi seems to have stood pat without toning down that big black ugliness they call a grill. It seems their sales are doing fine now. I've never been on any Audi discussion boards to know how many years the negative grill talk lasted before it turned, or if there still is a lot of negative talk...
My only suggestion to Acura is to tone down the brightness of the grill - perhaps make it match the finish on the 18" SHAWD wheels. Wrapping the grill onto the top of the hood is pretty unique. In 2D pictures, it makes it look huge - in real life, not so bad. Shaping the grill opening to look a little like an upside-down Acura measuring calipers logo was a nice attempted touch, too; but you had to look too hard to "get it".
The part about current sedan design I don't like is probably not Acura's fault as much as the gov't. Side impact standards are getting so tough, the age of a sedan with a low cowl line that the side windows sills follow all the way around the car (like 90s Hondas and Acuras) can never again occur without use of exotic new materials. So we get that dark, sit down in a bathtub feel unless we buy an SUV, and tall doors with short windows. The only consolation is the back windows can roll all the way down.

I'm not going to totally disagree, but look at my sig, I flipped 3G TLs within a year or so usually and never took any substantial hit (actually most times broke even), the 3G was a stylish and IN DEMAND car in both the new and used car market. All of my 3G cars sold qucikly within 2 weeks, execpt the last one due to the economy took about 8-9 weeks to sell, but even then I had 2 buyers at that time. I specifically leased the 4G because I suspect it woudl never be as easy to unload, both becasue of the economy and the controversal styling.

From my experience with talking with people, if initially they hated it, soon enough they will love it and once they love it, they won't ever hate it again.
It's just a matter of time for the shock of different design to wear off and when they step over to the dark side, they'll never turn back.
Many many many of my friends and neighbors who first told me they didn't like the front grill now ask me where my beautiful car is...
I think it just takes time for the design to settle in, but when it does, it's so different that there is nothing like it.
