I keep reading reviews and people saying the RLX is a reskinned Accord, why does everyone say that, sure the center stack has similarities, but the RLX borrows part of the platform, but is more than a reskinned Accord. If I recall the suspension in the RLX is still double wishbone while the Accord has gone struts. The body styles do not even look similar. All car makers share components across their lines and I guess it will be more prevelant in the future to remain cost competitive.

^^ Good question. I guess Audi, Infiniti, Lexus, Cadillac, etc. never do any platform sharing. All of their cars are stand alone efforts. (Tongue planted firmly in cheek).

(But I guess if Acura is going to be only company that shares platforms, they have at least chosen a good donor).

Everybody shares platforms its just what that base platform actually is that's different. Don't believe any Tier one brands are sharing economy car platforms with their $70K models.

You may agree or disagree but so far Acura has not been very successful with its top priced car line.

Don't know what the RLX backlog is or how its counted, sales on contract or on delivery, but so far 16 cars in Feb & 336 in March.

I think Acura saw the new Infinity Q50 and said, OH NO!!! If you have not seen this car, go check it out. We know the G37 has always been in comparison to the TL... But the Q50, in my humble opinion, Starting at $38K, is a very inspiring design, and it can be loaded with all the HIGH TECH features you could only imagine... Time Will Tell!!!

^^^ I think maybe the Q50 and 14 CTS may be an influence, but it could have been their plan all along since I don't think they were going to release the TLX until next March, or maybe very late this year at best.

I am by no means an Art Major, but did take two years of art in high school, won a Ney York state wide art contest. What I remember most was when my art teacher REMINDED me that their are on two types of lines, a straight line and a curved line. How the two work together will get you an infinit number of combinations. She showed us how to add a simple curved line to a drawing could make something come to life. Her demonstration was just amazing to me. Car Designers are in the same boat... Simple suttle things can make a car look great or ???... Infinity made some BOLD moves on its Q50 design, Acura did the same with the original 09-11 TL... When I first saw it I was just Blown Away. A month ago, I had someone complement me on my car... Funny, they said is that a new 2013!!! I said, have you not seen this car before? They said no... I took them around to the front of the car, and said what do you think! Their reply, COOL MAN!! One other thing. My first Acura was my wife's 2009 TSX.. I recall a 2008 TSX in the lot next to it. If the 2009 looked DULL, like the 2008, I would have never purchased the car... In a way the 2009-10-11-12-13 TSX back looks a lot like the RLX in some ways. The TSX is sold as the Honda Accord outside the USA.

The Q50 is currently #1 on my list to replace my aging TL, but let's face it - that $38k is for the base model which is devoid of "the goodies". If I recall correctly, the base model doesn't even come with leather seating for that $37-$38k price.

You don't even get leather on the RLX on the Base or Navigation trims up to $50K. You have to spend $55K to get leather. I'd bet the TLX will be the same way.

The only thing that scares me about the Q50 is Infiniti electronics, I suspect the first year they will have tons of gremlins to hunt down.

Maybe they were just being polite.
