TL vs Fence
I won't mention any names (I will only say that it wasn't me) but someone decided to pick a fight with a wired fence and chose my TL as his/her choice of weapon. I am happy to report that the TL won! You should have seen what my TL did to that fence. Sorry but no pics of the fence. But, unfortunately, the victory was not without scars. All scuffs and scratches over the spoiler and the rear bumper. And believe me, they will not be buffed out.

In the spirit of DIY, I decided to try out ScratchWizard and placed an order this morning. Bought 2 sets just in case.
Hopefully it will arrive before the 4th of July weekend when I will undertake this task. For anyone that is interested, if after 4th of July I do not post on this thread, it means this products sucks donkey ass or I screwed up royally and took the car to the body shop to get it repaint. If it comes out half decent, I will post up pics. But for $115.41 for the kit shipped, I thought I would give it a try. And it has a 100% money back guarantee FWIW.
If someone already tried this product, please let me know of your opinion.

Ouch! That's the second banged up TL I've seen on here today, so sorry to hear about this
Be sure to keep us posted on the progress, I'd hope for the amount you paid for the product it would have good results, but I'll leave it to you to draw a conclusion.
this made me laugh so hard...i walk into every DIY project with that caveat...if my friends don't hear about how well it went, i probably bailed on it after failing and took it somewhere

Thanks Mr. Brock!
I hope so too... but if it doesn't, no biggie as the body shop will have to sand and paint anyways and supposedly ScratchWizard will give me my money back including shipping charges. I will just pat myself on the back for at least giving that good old college try

I should clarify, the kit cost $49.95 plus shipping but I bought 2 just in case. It would suck if I ran out of paint in the process.

It is the color match I am really concerned about.

It's one thing to tackle a scratch or 2 but if you're talking about sanding off your clearcoat, paint and building that back up to match your factory paint you're in a heap of trouble doing that in a regular garage.

If all fails, I figure only thing I will lose is time but walk away with an invaluable lesson at least

please please.. sand then wetsand.. prep is key. if your prep sucks.. your paint will look even worse.
be patient, i know sometimes we can be impatient and just want to paint and get it done with. Paint takes time to cure each step.. primer, basecoat and clear..
also work in a dust free area.. dont do this outside in your driveway.. do it in a garage with all the windows closed. Sweep the garage first.

Read my order incorrectly... the paint kit will not arrive until 7/7.
Anyways... I was checking over the car this weekend and discovered that the rear quarter panel was dented as well. Took it to a shop and they quoted $2200 to take care of the dent and to repaint the bumper and spoiler. IDK... but sounds ridiculous to me.
Looks like I will be looking around for a more reasonable shop and looks like I might not be able to use this kit for the damage I have afterall. However, I might still use this to paint my grill and rear trim pieces. Will see...

id spend 20 bucks on a paint pen with a brush and go to town with it..
polish off what you can.. deeper scratches require paint pen + high grit wet standing + polish job.
Here is what i did when i got a chip on the corner of my door.
Now for some touch-up
The Front fender had a rock chip that was starting to Rust, I first began by taking a razor blade and flaking away all of the paint that was flaking off and then I scraped all of the rust away as much as I could. Just try to scrape off as much as you can until you dont see any more.
Then it turned into this ( bare shiny metal)
Then I dabbed some of the Dupli-Color 2in1 touch up paint into the chip letting it dry for about 10-15 until it hardened.
After the paint dries it seeps into the chip and settles down. Somtimes you only have to apply paint once but in this case I had to put down 2 layers.
I taped arround this so I have a clean wetsand area, you can tell in the pics how much it settled into the chip
I worked on the panel while the touch up was drying.
after the second coat of touch up It turned out like this
Then After it was Fully Dried I wet sanded with 2000 grit paper and here is what it looked like
After that I buffed it out with my flex and here is the Final Outcome (not %100 but close)
and Walaaaaa!!
