I'm sure the Potenza S-04s are better. I'm looking only at UHP all seasons for my 18 inchers. Once I get my money saved up, I'll get a 19 or 20 incher with summer tires, and then swap out the wheels by season.

With the Bridgestone brand, the stickiest summer tire is the RE-11.

I've tried the RE-11's predecessor, the RE-010R, and it stuck to the roads like crazy glue. In essence, the RE-010R was a track tire but approved for legal street use.

The RE-11 has been widely reviewed to be even superior than the RE-010R in all ways. The only drawback is it's heavy weight which tends to hurt performance.

BTW approximately 1-month update: absolutely love the TL SH-AWD we decided on. It's gone over 2k miles in this time, long trips and as DD and some shorter jaunts, and it's everything I want in a car, period. And then some. I am humbled by the chance to have and drive this car. And my family's fine with it, too, though a bit amused by my new-car obsessiveness (when it happens once every 15 years, well... it's an occasion!). I have no complaints.

Thanks again to all the contributors to this thread, you were all thoughtful in your responses.

And to new and prospective 4G TL drivers: this really is one of the best-kept secrets out there! This is a fantastic car, you're really unlikely to find one better, all the way around. Some may have this or that feature or small advantage in some area, but none has the kind of balance in capability and fun this car has. The more you drive it, the more you'll find that out.

Later,

FF

Thanks for the update FanaticFan. Looks like I'll be bringing one home on Monday for an overnight test drive. I'll be taking it back Tuesday to bring home a 2013 RDX overnight. Then it will be decision time!

Both fun cars, all depends on your focus; best of luck with the decision!
