Timing Belt Question
I have a 05TL and my car hit 97K Mileage. The service guy at dealer said that I need to change my timing belt at 100K. Is it true? Or I can drive up to 120K ? Any ideas? Thank you

Well... you posted in the 4G section, I guess that is why you didnt get any response yet.
Anyways, to answer your question, yes you can make it up to 120K, but at a risk of breaking it. And if it breaks while on high speed, it might cost you a little too much to get the whole thing fixed.
I will say get it inspected by an independent mechanic and see if the belt is in shape to last a few thousand extra miles or not. I know my uncle changed his 1999 Toyota Camry's belt and water pump around 115k. But then again, he is 55 years old and drives like a 75 year old.
Just a suggestion, dont take it to the dealer, unless you have tons of money. Even if you do, still stay away from the dealer, get it fixed by an ind. mechanic and send me a check of the money you saved.

The service is technically done @ 105K miles. Many members have went past that, but it's a peace of mind to get it done asap. Look at it this way, you won't have to worry about it again ANYTIME soon. Sounds like your mech wants to do it early. Either way call around for a lower price. You can always take it to a Honda dealer too. Easily cheaper than an Acura dealer. If you don't wanna go the dealer route, you can definitely try an indy shop. Also way cheaper than both. Just find a reputable place that YOU trust. Your car, your money, you want it done right the first time.
