Aside from looks, the TLX is nothing to write home about. I too had a TLX loaner (V6 tech) and couldn't wait to get my 2012 SH-AWD Tech back. Doesn't even compare. Transmission on the TLX is miserable. If I were you, I'd buy a used 4th gen that you like.

I enjoyed driving the '15 MDX loaner more than the Advance TLX loaner I had and I had both for a couple days. TLX is a nice sedan, but it doesn't thrill by any means, well not to me. I have a feeling they will blow the design out the water for the FMC in 3 years but the jerky trans was such a turn off for me and it feels like a lightweght 3G, lol. My wifes 2013 Optima SXL was better to look at. I'm so pissed that the back of the TLX looks like a cross between a Sonata and Chrysler 200. hahaha. 4G for the WIN!!!

It's not a fifth generation it's a first generation. I don't understand it.

The TLX is nice but I also agree that I would take my 14 TL over it. I had the option to wait for the TLX but I didn't and glad. I also have a 16 RDX advance so I have the latest tech but with more room.

5G TL) The vehicle rides ok. The interior, in my opinion, is not up to par with the 4 gs. It seem like Acrua used cheaper materials in the 5g. The cockpit and seats seem to have decreased in quality: more plastics, and less leather quality (hardly any leather smell compared to the 4g)
4g TL) Yeah some people hate the beak, but I don't know why this car gets such a bad rap. the SH-AWD handles like nobody's business on the road. It's a well made car and the interior is well done in my opinion. The leather smells good too (where there is leather).
GS350) Lexus designs very nice vehicles. Their latest grilles look like Predator's mouth to me. Other than that the cars are very nice. Better technology, in my opinion, than the acuras. The side mirrors are tinted to match the color of the interior (very nice).

However, I still find the 4g to be THE car for a spirited driver. Plenty of power. Hugs the road tight. The seats are most comfortable. I wish I can take my seat out the car and use it for my work chair. That's how ergonomic and comfortable it is. I can sit in it for hours.

I came very close to trading my 4g in for the lexus GS350 but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I love the 4g. It's a well made car and looks bad ass.
Very agree with you. The 4G is very unique looking car, especially from rear end which just looks like a smiling face on a guy with bad ideal in mind.
4G is very solid feeling. the body is huge, but nimble when you sharply change lane or in corner

The new gen SH-AWD is a more conventional hydraulic based AWD than the ones on the 4G TL and 2G MDX which were electromagnetic.
Basically a simpler version!
