Thinking about getting an Acura TL 2009-2012
Hey all, I'm currently a proud 2006 Honda accord owner which has 40k mileage on it lol.
That was my college car and I have to give it back to my mom.
Im now looking for greater and better cars like an Acura TL...
Now Im not sure which year is better, but I plan on getting my car at a dealer only auction do its very limited. Also I like the Sh AWD models only.
Anyone have a recommendation on what year would be good?

Sell the Accord to me for $5,000. No, but seriously, why trade a perfectly good car. Why not wait until 2016? Think of the money you'll save driving around in that low miles peach!

Save some $$ and wait for the TLX. Technology upgrades and better MPG cars are right around the corner. If I were in your shoes, I'd hold off on pulling the trigger for some new hotness.

Sorry, I missed the part about "having to give it back to mom."
Take your time and look at as many vehicles as possible. Another AZ member looked for over a year until he found the right car at the right price.

I recommend 12' because of 6AT and better styling. But some people on this forum like 09-11 styling better, so it's really just personal reference.
Like others said, I'd save my money until at least the TLX is revealed if I were you. But I also understand the new car urge you are having

I was in your shoes a few years ago, but I had a company car at the first company I worked for out of college so I didn't have to buy a car immediately. Now that I have the full costs of a car (as opposed to $175 a month for everything), I definitely wish that I understood how much a car would cost beforehand-- in college/high school I only had to pay for oil changes and gas for my first Acura, a 2001 MDX and I had to give that car back when I graduated.
Another piece of advice-- don't live at home with your parents so that you can afford a nice car right out of college. At the same time, maxing your annual roth IRA limits, a 10%-15% 401k contribution, or other sensible things should not be sacrificed for the sake of having a nice car. It's not worth it. I could have bought a much nicer car, but at the end of the day, an Acura made the most sense to align with my other financial goals. I'd have loved an E60 M5 or F10 550, but at the end of the day, it's still just a car.
Also-- I've got no idea what industry you're going into, but if you are showing up at your first job in a nicer car than most of your coworkers-- there are not many good judgments that they will make of you. They'll assume that your parents paid for it or you are overpaid. I know someone in mid-level management that has a new M3 and actually wishes that he didn't get it because when he spends time out in the field it creates uncomfortable situations when working with customers.
If you can actually afford a TLX when it comes out...and you understand what you're getting yourself into right out of college.... get a beater now and save your money for the TLX. And make sure you trade the beater in when you do get a nice car so that you don't end up with a daily driver like some people on here who have mistakenly confused their Acura for something that's actually nice enough to have a daily driver for.

Google and read around the internet just to get some ideas, if buying an expensive car right after graduating from college is really a ... good move? Here is one of those articles. http://www.modestmoney.com/mistake-b...expensive-car/
But, if you insist, I think you can't go wrong with any SH-AWD from 2010-2013 - of course the newer will cost more.
I bought a used 2010 model and have been in love with it since the day I brought it home (months ago).
Good luck.
