terrible gas mileage 2012 fwd

was getting around 20-22 mpg on average up until a few weeks ago. now im averaging 18-19 mpg on average. have had the fuel injection cleaning, oil changed, and also the spark plugs replaced, air filter replaced. what else would cause this?

As a data point...my daily driving MPG (calculated) mileage is ~22 MPG. We just completed our first "highway only" trip of just over 400 miles and the calculated mileage was 29 MPG running 75-85 mph. FWIW...I'm no feather-foot.

Any CELs? Using the same quality fuel? Are you actually calculating your mileage when you fill up vs trusting the accuracy of the computer?

No cels to my knowledge. I do cross check the computer vs calculating the mpg myself and it’s usually not far off. Computer usually undercalculates mpg by like .2 or so but not that much.

Double-check the tire pressure. That's usually the largest factor to MPG for me.

That wouldn't be unheard-of if you were doing nearly 100% city driving. What's your % of city/highway?

Like the previous reply, tire pressure would be a killer. I assume you are using premium and not regular?

believe it or not, right after the 105K service the cars can loose a bit of gas mileage. As you put some more miles on the car you'll watch it creep back up. Same thing happens when the car is new. It's the timing belt and other components wearing in that were replaced and getting mated.
