Taking 4G Delivery on 10/10!
Greetings,
Newbie to the forum. After EXHAUSTIVE research stemming from an expiring '06 G35 lease, I placed a deposit on a WDP/Taupe 4G/Tech this week, and will take delivery this Friday when I get back to town.
I tried the new G35 and M35, BMW 3 and 5 series, Audi A4/6, CTS, GS350. After many test drives, I finally spotted a new TL at the local Acura dealership and really loved the combination of handling, comfort, and the amazing telematics.
Gone from my past trials of the 3G TL were any sign of torque steer or any significant body roll. I took two test drives on some very winding roads on both wet and dry pavement and the FWD TL was VERY composed. Also, wind noise is non-existent, comparing favorably with the Lexus GS! That is a godsend coming from the Infiniti, which I must admit was a very reliable and fun to drive vehicle. Surprisingly the new TL seems to corner better than the G35, which I felt held its own in that regard. If my lease ended next month, I would have probably opted for the AWD, but I don't think I will miss it (although it would be nice to have the bigger rims...)
While the styling was off-putting in web pictures, it quickly grew on me in person, and I find that the front grill blends nicely in the lighter colors, and the sheer volume of chrome on the Tech package blends very nicely with the WDP color.
Sorry for the dissertation, but I am just happy to have finally made a decision!!
I will post pics asap, and look forward to my first Acura Experience!
Cheers,
BT

TL, I will be taking delivery of a WDP/Taupe Tech tomorrow morning. I have been waiting now for 9 days. My dealership ran into snags with getting exactly what I want from another dealership so I had to wait on their own delivery. I had an 06' NonNavi and now an 07' Navi. I will post pictures soon.

I guess I need to get on the pictures myself. The only ones I got are from the dealership. I need to sun to be just right. lol. Great car though. GPS climate control wtf? I got a lot of reading left to do.

Getting Close
Hey guys, thanks and I am definitely excited for delivery tomorrow!
Brief comparison on the vehicles I tested:
Infiniti: G35 (08)- very fun to drive, much improved over the '06 I have been driving, including their technology offerings, but in the end, it is a SMALL car, especially back seat and trunk.
M35- much heavier car, didn't have the pop of the G35 or TL, but the interior design is excellent, and cooled seats were a big plus (hot in TN)
BMW: 335i- FAST! Very well behaved, you can throw it around all you want. Again, a smaller vehicle compared to the TL, and they nickel and dime you on options, to the tune of 10K more comparably configured.
535/550- drove 2007 5er's, and honestly, they are great vehicles, very composed, and fun to drive. The TL's tech offerings, and EXPECTED dependability tipped the scale here. Ranked a close second. TL handling again compared favorably, which surprised me to no end.
Audi: A4- New 2009 is a very nice vehicle, and the 2.0T engine feels very quick, although 0-60 doesn't quite keep up with some of the other cars. Very difficult to find a vehicle equipped the way you want it, and again was a few thousand higher comperably equipped. TL value trend here...
A6- looked at 1-2 year old A6's, and honestly, they seemed very classy, but a little dated, driving was very nice, but not that thrilling.
I actually am not leasing this car, as my wife's financial adviser, Oprah Winfrey, has convinced her that leasing does not make sense (even though I haven't kept a car for longer than 3 years in the last 12 years...
My car has a few dealer installed options, ie flaps, wheel locks, cargo tray, and with those added (500.00), I got roughly 1250 off of the updated price, so I got at least 750.00 off of list, not knowing what the true costs of the add-ons are.
Deals to be had in this market fella's, even on cars a couple of weeks on the market...

Congrats the car looks absolutely amazing in the color especially when you see that color in the sun its WOW. HAHA I did notice the dry cleans in the back seat. Any plans of doing anything to the car? or you prefer to roll stock?

TL, note what I saw when I arrived today to take delivery of my 2009 WDP Taupe Tech. The salesmen were shocked when they unloaded them yesterday and noticed that two of the nine that arrived had LT instead of TL. They originally thought that it was because of the Tech package but five of the nine were Tech and only two were LTs.
They ordered new letters to change but I am unsure if I will change it...its different...lol.
Forgive the pictures, they were taken with my iPhone. I was excited about posting these.

I think i would be worried about what else can be wrong if it said 'LT"!
I did drive one and I like how it drove and the features it has. I think it looks better in person than in the pics... I definitely got looks from people during the test drive.
I am going to drive a 3.2 A4 quattro as well. I hear the new ones have impressive numbers in the sub 6 second 0-60 category. I also know that the price is around 42k and it can go up from there...
