I have to replace my tail light assembly on the passenger side.

do I need to remove the rear bumper to swap my tail light our or can I do it from inside the trunk?

it would probably be easier if I can leave the bumper on, but from looking at some videos I found on how the 3G TL guys remove the rear bumpers, it's not terribly hard...

You will need to remove them both from inside the trunk and by removing the rear bumper.

There is a DIY, google search acurazine tl 3g rear bumper DIY.

The only reason it needs to come off is because the rear tails have a screw that is behind the bumper, right below the tail light. So you have to remove the bumper to get to that screw.

Solution: remove bumper, install new tails, DO NOT istall the screw that goes through the rear bumper clip. Next time, you won't need to remove the bumper to swap your tails. The screw is completely unnecessary as the tail light is held on with like 4 other screws, and the bumper is held on my plenty of screws and clips

No bumper removal necessary, all the work is done from inside your trunk.
