Stiff brake pedal before starting car?
I don't necessarily think that this is a problem as such, so I am not posting in the problems and fixes section....
Since I have a 2010 TL SH-AWD with Tech, I have to push the brake pedal before I hit the red "start" button to start up the car. Initially when I first got the car, the brake pedal was always very easy to step on without any resistance. For the last few weeks, I have noticed that when I step on the brake pedal now, after the car has been sitting in my garage overnight, the brake pedal feels very stiff with lots of resistance and I could hardly push it down. Then once I hit the "start" button and the car starts up, the resistance would go away and then I could push the brake pedal down all the way.
Why is it like this? Is this normal? Like I said, it does not affect anything in anyway, so I don't think it's a problem but then I would like to know if it's normal and if there is a cause for it. Thanks!

I would get it checked out--engine vacuum/brake booster problem? The thing to remember is that Mr. Ostrich is reporting that the brake pedal behavior on start-up has *changed*. That merits investigation. For what it's worth, since Day 1 my 3-month old 2010 TL fwd tech's brake pedal has always been easy to push down during pushbutton start-up.

Thanks so much for all of your responses - I have been on a business trip without internet access so I just came home and saw your responses. I really appreciate it! It's weird that I didn't notice it before though... but since many of you have the same experience, I feel good about it. Thanks again!
