Spied: 2012 TL MMC
#162
Anyone else hear that the TSX was getting an MMC for 11' models? I think the US TSX is one year behind the release of the Japan and Euro version so to stay in line with them Acura was doing an early MMC and adding the wagon.
We'll see an SH TSX at some point, probably not until next generation though.

Just compare the 2011 wagon to the sedan to get an idea of the changes we're going to see. The HD audio/nav/media was mentioned already. The wagon also showed off a tweaked grille, which the sedan will also probably get. The interior of the wagon also has some wood/woodgrain trim all around the shifter center console. It also has a new bumper, something we also will probably get. I didn't notice a hp/tq rating for the 2.4-L in Acura's press release, which makes me wonder if it's being tuned a bit for some extra power. I do not think the 6-speed automatic will find its way here though. The wagon will have the 5-speed and the trans needs to trickle down the Acura line, which it still hasn't done with the RL or TL. But hopefully I'm wrong. The J35 will probably be carried over. I've heard no official confirmation of a hybrid model.
Personally I'd like to see the V-6 version morphed into a Type-S type model, a bit of a present day version of the 2007-2008 TLS. As it stands the V-6 is just too close to the TL, right down to the price.
That's just my .02."

K23 wouldn't be a simple swap. They would need to re work the intercooler set up from a top mount to a front mount. As it currently is configured, the K23 powerplant is too tall to fit into the TSX engine bay without adding a hood scoup to accomodate it.
#165
But in all seriousness the intercooler is one of the things that needs to be changed out anyways in my opinion, so that's just a good thing.

It should be getting one. I talked about it in another one of these threads I think and I just made a post in the 2011 TSX thread.

I am happy with the direction of the 4G as that is what I wished the TL always was for some time but others just wanted an upgrade for what it was, they didn't necessarily want it to transition into anything else, just upgraded. In a sense they may have been better off not releasing a FWD TL and focusing more on the TSX and V6 version as a replacement but that would have hurt them even more.
I think they will be extra competitive once they get all of these business "moves" ironed out.

Yeah I think they left a little bit of a gap for some 3G (mainly TLS) customers. The TSX is right there now but it is a bit of a downgrade with no LSD and smaller passenger volume and the SH may be out of reach for some both in size and financially. Even though the numbers small, I think a 6MT or 6AT TSX V6 w/ LSD, resembling a TLS, would make a lot of 3G TL owners happy.

My interest was piqued for the 2010 TSX V-6 since, as I've mentioned for some time now, I'm interested in a new car. But compared to my 3G (IMO) the interior was no improvement, a little small but I could make that work fine. The styling was nice but I liked it neither more nor less than mine, and the performance is pretty much the same, with the same transmission. There wasn't a lot to "upgrade" to, basically.
Now a Type-S version with the items you mentioned and more would interest me. That or a nice 4G TL MMC. If not, I may defect from the Japanese luxury sedan fold and buy....AMERICAN?!

sorry, I don't track it (yet). I'm just doing that so I can avoid rock chips on my way from El Paso to Richmond. This damn front end already has about 7 locations on the paint where it has nicked the paint!

So far looks like a new bumper and a new grill. I wonder if the rear bumper will be different. i was kind of expecting the headlights to change but Im glad they didnt. Will make it easier to put the MMC changes on the current TL..... if I like it of course lol.

I wonder if there will be that adaptive lighting system many luxury cars have. Another thing is.. still no bi-xenons, at least that's what i'm seeing since the highbeam housing is still there.

The base TL definitely needs bigger wheels, the 17's are just too small with the larger body, hopefully they use 18's across the board with the 2011 model.
The front end definitely needed improvement and Acura finally realizes this with the 2011 model but it may be too late at this point. I'm not convinced that what I see in the sopt shots is going to work well with this body style, they may have been better served to stick with what they had until it came time for a redesign.
Maybe these tweaks will work, I guess we will need to see the actual car when they hit the dealers.
I just sold the CL in my sig, I drove it all weekend before the new owner takes delivery in the next few days, I did pull the stereo though.
This is the first time I will be without an Acura in over 10 years, I may trade the wife's 2009 Pilot in for the new TSX wagon, we'll see.

The back end clearly has some cladding over it so maybe there is a changed bumper there too

You are a second from being called out. R.I.F. reading is fundamental man! I said there was nothing factual just speculation. I don't care what you believe. I wrote about what I saw and others asked about what I saw. Are you like freaking Fox News or something, seriously. I am aware who is on here.
No one on here can say anything contrary to what you believe without you going there, why? Something is clearly wrong with you, you didn't get enough hugs or something.
Moderators you can't tell me that this dude doesn't est the resolve of folks and is 90% disrespectful to others views and opinions.

I see you being the same way to HIS opinions. He doenst have to like the car the same way YOU do. This is a Car Forum. Everyone has rights to their own opinions!

A poster on TOV (Colin) claims that there is SHAWD with the 6AT and HPT for 2011
When exactly do 2011's supposed to go on sale?
From what i've heard, the 2012 will be on sale in april 2011, 6 months ahead of schedule, so does that mean the 2011's will be on sale from sept 2010? Man i wish i waited a few more months so I could at least get the 6 speed. What is wrong with you guys at acura? I just spent nearly $40k of my hard earned money on a 2010 and you still can't give us your best technology? Give us updates as they come! You've had the 6 spd since at least 2010.

While I have been against the grill design on the 4G since its inception, I must say that I've started to grow warmer to it. I no longer mind how the rear end on the car looks, either.
My worst fear now is that a toned-down front end will change the car for the worse by making it too bland. Also, if they take the wedge out of the backside, it'll be a big flat piece of nothing going on back there. I'm so hard to please. Here's to waiting...

Geez. I was ready to pick up a TL this weekend but will wait now with all the new info coming out. They were going to paint the grill the same color as the body. I read on some site that the 2011-12 TL might be getting an upgraded motor is this true?

If you're referring to the recent jump in sales, Acura has been throwing crazy incentives out to move the TL on the west coast (california)
I got my base for $6k off MSRP and others are getting similar deals.. so yea..

you know...the new grille really looks like the RL and TSX wagon. I saw the current RL again during routine service, and I have to say I like the current TL "beak" better. The RL just look very sedate and not aggressive.
Also with the new bumper sticking out more, does it further increase the overall length?
