should I change out my water pump with the timing belt?

My car just rolled over 100,000 miles and I am planning to have the timing belt replaced I was just curious if most of you opt to replace the water pump this time around or not?

i’ve seen some people suggest that it’s fine to wait until the second time in belt to swap out the water pump. It’s not a major difference in price but I’d probably save myself a few hundred bucks if I just wait.

thoughts??

x2 agreed,
You do not want the bearing in the water pump going bad on you hoping it will last another 100k miles. It's not about how clean or new the blades still look, more about the bearing life. Change it out and enjoy the piece of mind.
Plus removing the water pump will waterfall out the rest of the engine coolant that did not drain out the tiny spout on the bottom of the radiator (SO MUCH more came out when I removed the pump housing!). Fresh coolant also being part of the 100k service.

yes for the reasons stated above, plus you've gone through the labor to get to it so why not?

I heard that you should also change an alternator belt as well while you are at it...

For 2009 with 100K? Absolutely.

Do the spark plugs too.

Yep. You should buy the full timing belt kit. It comes with a new water pump, idler pulley, tensioner, and timing belt. I would also suggest you replace the serpentine belt as well, since you already have to take it off. The serpentine belt is not part of the kit, but I suggest you change it as well.

Answer and logic is obvious.
- It is your gamble and one of your life's decision if you elect not to.
Just belly up to the bar and own it if you don't change it
