Shift knob replacement 6MT?

Hey guys, sorry if this is a repost. I tried to search didn't find what i needed...
I want to get a weighted shift knob for my 2013 SH-AWD, i think it will pair nicely with the short shifter. I tried to twist it off and the boot spins, i tried to hold the boot and spin the knob, i tried to pull down on the boot and the trim ring or whatever it is and i can't get the damn knob to get off. I've searched the manual, googled it and everything... i must suck at searching lol

Anyone know how to remove the shift knob without damaging the boot/shifter etc.?

If you grab the boot right below the ring it will pop down off the knob. Then it's just lefty loosen. That's how mine is anyway.

LoL! I've tried dropping the collar, i've done this before on my previous cars... this thing just isn't coming off. I'll try one more time, if it's not coming loose... forget the dang weighted knob

I have also been considering a weighted shift knob. Any of you 6MT folks using anything other than the stock knob?

This knob looks quite interesting, also should alleviate the "burning or freezing" of the hand. Not too excited about the price though.

If anyone is using a weighted knob what are your thoughts?

I'd be interested in seeing what others are using too. I wouldn't mind changing mine out. BTW, your link isn't working.

I have an 03 CL-s 6MT and to get my stock shift knob off I had to unscrew it from the actual shifter by turning the ring with the knob and on mine the plastic piece that the boot is glued to just slides back and comes out. then push the knob inside out through the boot and use needle nose pliers and I think you can figure it out if this works. I'm not sure if yours is the same way, It took me awhile to figure it out to. Hope this helps, kinda hard to explain

NRG Carbon style shift knob. Made from billet aluminium... 480 grams. Nice and heavy. Helps slot the gears in really well depending on the height you adjust it to.

amill, thank you! Although this helps, I'm wondering if you could add step by step annotations, or voice-over to the video, as I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what it is that needs to be done

There are two clips that protrude from the knob and hooks onto the plastic ring on the shift boot. Its important to make sure you're not squeezing the plastic ring at the place where it hooks onto the knob. It is at the top and bottom of the gear position indicator. Best position to hold it is on either side. Also slip it out by working it out. Just keep shimmying it out. Hope that makes sense

Really bro? I only made the video because it is as easy as it looks. Grab the bottom portion of the collar, closest to the boot and pull it downward. I really am not understanding why this is so hard.

The video is fantastic, however the problem that i've been having from the get-go is that my metal collar part will not unhook (inclip). ive tried everything, even using brute force and im a pretty strong guy!! i may have to wrap the metal collar with rubberbands as my hands tend to get very sweaty too! I am determined to get my 60 dollar countersunk knob on!!

I went out and tried it again. I had more of a problem this time. I had to slightly rotate the collar to get it to "unhook" from the knob, and then it would pull down. Try that.

I don't really see why anyone would want to replace the factory knob. It has a nice feel to it. Also, the shift boot will just hang there with an aftermarket knob since the boot clips into the factory knob.

YUP, time to throw in the towel! I've tried twisting, turning, spinning, all to no avail...this knob was not meant to be taken off. It will not budge! and I'm not a mechanical moron; In the past I've bled brakes, change brake pads, installed countless cold air intakes, catback exhausts, installed remote start alarms/regular alarms, neon lights, s2000 push button start in my '94 Prelude, changed out strut bars, installed JDM power folding mirrors, and ETC, ETC...

I CANT REMOVE THIS DAMN COLLAR!! Maybe the dealer glued the collar onto the leather boot part and now its one piece!, oh well i gotta wait until its really nice out and maybe i'll take apart the center console to have a looksie at whats holding it up! {pun intended}

Is there a knob that will work with the collar to make it look OEM? I don't like the boot dangling below my knob. Seriously looking at a blox knob, but if I can't get the collar to work with it, I am not sure I want to spend the money.

Anyone have a fix for this? What are you guys doing to make your boot work with your aftermarket knob?
