SH-AWD and Snow Chains

This isn't really a topic about the cars capability. Just a question...

When we bought our 2012 TL SH-AWD the dealer gave us a document saying that were not to use tire chains on the car because it interferes with the SH-AWD.

I can't find the document anywhere so I thought I'd come here to see if anyone got similar instructions.

Sometimes we drive up to northern California/High Sierras for snow fun but there are often areas where snow chains are required. But if we can't put chains on our tires does that mean they'll let us through or turn us back?

FYI - I did search the forums but couldn't really dig up the answer to this question.

Didn't get any document in regards to the use of snow chain. Manual says that chains are allowed on the front wheels and supplied the brand with model family recommended. Further, it was stated to remove the device ASA the road condition is allowed. If you do not comply with the local law, you will be turned around.

Yep, just per the manual, only install chains on the front tires if you need to. I also never got a document or warning to never use snow chains.

Thanks! I missed that portion of the manual.

Made up and down the mountain this weekend with no problem. Tires chains were only required for cars that didn't have AWD and or snow tires.

Now that I know chains are ok I will definitely get a pair ahead of our next trip.
