I have read some reviews about 2009 TL SH-AWD. Some of them mentioned that the engine noise was kind louder than the base TL. Is it too noisy? How bad it is? Is it noisier than Infinity G35?

i really can't hear it at all in the car, but i did notice it this morning when i started the car and had to get out to get my cell. its not loud, but reminds me of the sound of my former lexus is350 that had direct injection.

 

The only time I would say you hear the engine 'roar' and I mean that in a good way is after 5k rpm. And it isn't a raspy rattling engine noise that makes you think the pistons are about to pop through the hood. The G's powerful yet noisy engine has a harsh sound, and not as deep a groan as the SH. It's a powerful and smooth sounding melody. Yes, it is lounder than the 3.5L but not any louder than the 3G Type-S, just different. Have a listen to mine below.

The AWD models come with a louder exhaust than the FWD cars. Acura intentionally tuned the exhaust on the AWD cars to sound "sportier." Personally, I love it!

 

People (or car mags) used to criticize the TL as being too quiet for a sports luxury sedan, so like what others have said Acura tuned the new model a bit louder.
