Service A123: difference between tranny flush required and optional

Hi guys

I am planning to do the service A123 (replaced already the air and cabin filters thou), and I came up with a dealer that offers the tranny flush for $149.

I was wondering; if this is the same service that you need, when the car ask you to do the service with the code #2.

I've heard that it is quite expensive to do, so I was surprised to see the coupon for less than 200 dollars, and thought that it may be something different maybe?

Does anyone have any experience using coupon for service that is required by the manufacturer? ( I assume that it is required since my dash started to give me every single time I start the car, the service code in yellow). Thanks!

You can do anything you want at anytime you want. They will prob not recommend it, but will be happy to charge you.

Do it yourself and you'll only have to pay for the fluids.

EDiT: In fact, I've been doing it (tranny) every 30K.

Agree, in fact this is what I do with my other car, but the TL has an extended warranty, and the conditions are that I need to follow the scheduled maintenance religiously, and give proof of the maintenance done...so I can't just buy fluids and save the receipts, but need to have the dealer to perform the maintenance.

Of course I don't have to do all there, but the major things has to be done where they can track them. I would not like the idea to save 400 bucks for a service, and then have the warranty refuse my tranny work and pay 6K

They could TRY and deny your warranty, but no one buys $120 of fluid and doesn't instal it. However, INS Co's have denied other people for less.

A=oil change
1=tire rotation
2=filter change
3=tranny fluid replacement

it's the same service. if you tell them oil change, tire rotation and transmission fluid drain and fill, it will be a lot cheaper than telling then A13 (sinc eyou did the 2) service.
