Separate 4G DIY Subforum

The last car forum that I was a member of had a separate section for DIY's. It was very helpful and allowed members to find / request / post them all in one location. Not to mention I got ideas on future mods just by seeing all the threads there.

How come there isn't a separate section on here for them? How many of you would like to see that done?

A couple I'd love to see:

Intake Resonator Removal
Rear Differential Fluid Change

rear diff, well its a bolt.. unbolt it, drain it, and fill it back up.

The whole reason I'd like to remove the IR is to eliminate the need for a new intake...so I have no instructions to refer to.

For the rear diff...you're saying there's one bolt that you use to both drain and refill? I would expect there to be two separate ones.

Maybe it's just cause I don't know jack about cars, but I can't just roll up my sleeves and wing it...even when it comes to (what some consider) basic tasks. I've used DIY's for just about everything I've ever done to my car due to this lack of knowledge.

I'm sure there's mods out there that some have done that a DIY would make others much more interested in.

More examples...
Disassembling headlights
Removing "filter" to make under dash lights brighter
Hooking up an aftermarket amp

I agree as well. For example: tail light access.. what all parts does one have to remove?

I'd have to agree with ucf_bronco - having a separate diy sub forum would be nice to browse... even simple tasks.

Ex. when i bought my TT i had the worst experience just getting the oil filter out for the first time due to a lack of space caused btwn the torsion bar & frame. Looking into a forum for TT's i found that this was a common problem and the solution was posted in a diy section. A quick look at the computer saved me a lot of trouble

Glad to see there are several others that like this idea as well.

Mods...is this something we could get done? I wouldn't think it would be a big change to make in the structure, then it would just require browsing through the existing threads and moving the DIY related ones.

I agree because it would be so easy to find information. It can be like a Acurazine Manual.

My 2 cents: The Garage is always not so helpful when trying to find specific info. I done a search for info and I have to wade through so many irrelevent posts that I just give up.

Having the Garage broken up into generational models and model types would be more useful.

Super easy - takes all of 10 minutes. Check your owners manual in the section about replacing your tail lights.

I know I was using that as an example of things that would be nice to see in the DIY.
