Seat Back Protectors?
Hey Guys,
I'm the proud papa of a baby girl that's just graduated to a front-facing car seat, and have another baby due to arrive in the next 2 - 3 weeks...
Anyway, I'm hoping there are some other Dads our there, and if so, am wondering what kind of protection you use on the back-side of your front seats to shield them from the many kicks of little, dirty, feet.
Thanks.

Buy a piece of shit that you can abuse for the next 18 years (like my sisters 2003 Impreza wagon). The Tech leather is really not durable and stretches when you put a car seat on it.
For the seat back I found this on Amazon for $35 and I think you can also get one at Target. "Jolly Jumper car Caddy"

I have nothing. The back of my seat is covered with shoe marks. Just use a good leather protector and wipe it occasionally. She grew up with my old 2006 TL and didn't have any issues with the back of my seat after 4 years.

First of all,

Congrats!
Second, if you're looking to protect the seatbacks, I'd suggest using a couple of old bedsheets. wrap it around the seat, seatback, and it should be babyproof for the most part. Now you have protection against not only kicking kids but puke, dropped diapers, and all the beautiful stuff that comes with being a father.

I have a 3year old, and the only thing I have anything remote protecting the seats is a bath towel underneath the car seat. The back side of my seat is covered with shoe mark prints. Frequent wipes with a towel/leather cleaner and bacterial/viral/fungal killer medical wipes do the trick

As long as you clean and protect it regularly you should be fine.

The seat back/magazine pocket seems to be made not out of leather but rather pleather. The dirt and footprints seem to come off much easier than other surfaces.
Since they come off so easy, I don't protect it with anything from my son's shoes, sneakers, cleats, etc.

![Question](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
After doing a search for seat back covers, this thread seemed to be the most appropriate to ask the question in. I know that people have given their opinions already, but I was wondering if anybody within the last two years has come up with a better alternative. I dont' want to make the back of the seat look too cheap, so I'm against the clear plastic covers... has anybody found a solution like the Acura OEM back seat cover? I don't want to cover the entire front seat... just the back.
On a side note, if you have the rear seat cover, how do you like it? Worth the ridiculous amount of money it costs?
One last question, everybody was complaining about the Tech leather... I have a '12 Advance. Is the perforated/"upgraded" stitching any help with wear and tear?
Thanks,
Brian

I just have a towel under the car-seat so the plastic doesn't leave impressions in the backseat. As far as the footprints on the back of the front seat I just use meguiars leather wipes after every trip with the kid.

Go to toys/babies r us and get car seat protectors....its like a semi stiff board wrapped in a fabric material. Its not very visible and it does the job for the most part. I have a 16month old and it works just fine in both my acuras

That's an interesting thread....I also have 2 car seats in the back and the pressure due the LATCH is basically leaving marks on the back seats.....without considering the endless prints left in the back seats.
I would go for the back seat cover, but it looks expensive...how good is that protecting the leather under the seats? Is still better to keep the bath towel under the baby car seats for protection?
Thanks!

^these really are the best, great for dogs too.
*Remember that putting a child seat in your car will stretch the leather underneath. Anything longer than a couple days will be pemanent stretch back there.

I have a blanket over the whole seat. A piece of plywood wrapped in a towel that goes directly under the baby seat and the seat protector that goes over all this. There's no stretching after 2 years yet.
For the back of the seats, I just use black garbage bags mounted to the back of the seat. My leather is black so it looks OK plus I have dark tint at the back.

I put the back seat cover on in preparation for my kid (due in a week or so). Doea the cover damage the seat in any way? It is on really tight. I also noticed a velcro tab behind the logo that can attach below when you want to use the arm rest. Surely the velcro tab will damage the leather underneath (i.e. scratching) it is not the soft part of the velcro but the 'teeth'. Anyone have any issues at all with the cover?

It does feel secure and the addition of height is the same as if you folded a towel. I checked it when I installed it and again after seeing your post today. I pulled it with full force in all directions and its not moving at all.

If you are referring to a broken seat back , i just fixed mine .Both tabs were broken at the top and they were just haging loose at the top, so i drill a hole in the plastic tab that was left then another hole in the white plastic rim at the top inside , then took a 12 in. zip tie and threaded it through both holes then took a flat spatula to hold the zip tie down , pulled it a little tight ,then did the same to the other side . Useing the spatula to hold the tie down close to thetab you pull them both tight and then cut off the excess.
