Reverse and side view mirror angle.

Anyone know the rhyme/reason about when the side view mirrors tilt down upon engaging reverse? Sometimes mine do, sometimes just one (right or left), and most of the time, nothing.

Where do you have the mirror adjustment switch positioned? Switch in center position mirrors don't move. If slid to the left of center the left side mirror goes down when reversing. If switch is slid to the right of the center position the right side mirror goes down when reversing.

All packages have this feature? My switch is also always in the middle because my 3 yr old son loves playing in the car... I'll have to check it out later... Thanks!

Ive always wondered why it does that. Maybe to see to rear tires while backing up as a safety feature?

The 3G has this feature, and its nice for backing into a spot.

I rarely use it though, only if I want to be 100% sure of whats there.

The mirror tilts down during reverse for the driver to see the curb, in order to prevent the expensive rear wheel from being scratched up by the curb.

I always had mine positioned on the right side mirror so that backing into a spot I can see the curb. A nice feature I notice on my Maxima is that both mirrors tilt down when backing out.

When I was looking at cars, Hyundai really hyped the fact that their new cars had the reverse tilt for side mirrors. You would have thought that it was the second coming....

I find the reverse tilt to be some what useful. For the most part, I leave it off. however, one of my friends has a very long and curvy driveway that you cannot turn around in and that feature come in very useful along with the backup camera when backing down it.

I find it useful. Have used it for quite a while. My last 5 cars had this feature.

I figured this out while doing the test drive. It's such an useful feature. In the past, mostly, only the passenger side mirror tilts down and if I was to park on the driver side, it never made it easy. I like this thing they have on the TL, nice thinking Acura.
