Replacing tail light assembly 2012 TL

According to the owner manual, you remove two nuts and then the assembly "pops out"

Well mine didn't "pop out" and everything I tried couldn't remove it. Can't find a handle on this.

I must be missing something.

Please, can anybody help!

It doesn't actually pop out. IIRC, there are 3 nuts and not 2. Once all three have been removed, if you tap "lightly" on those long screws, the assembly will slide outwards. You may want to make sure you have hand near by to catch it.

Treblig,

Thank for you quick and helpful reply.

Yes, I missed that 3rd nut-- way in the back.

But even after removal , the problem of removing the taillight assembly remains.

It is rock solid-- even after tapping on the screws as you suggested.

Any further insights?

keep tapping. dont be extremely gentle, but give it a solid hit with a hammer and it'll slip out. just keep your hand on the light so it doesnt fly out. with the nuts off, just wiggle the taillight a bit aswell, mightve been rusted in someplace. i just changed out the indicators in the back a few days ago, did exactly what Treblig said.

Thank you Mobass and treblig.

AS you said, it needed some more persuasion and it slid out nicely.

Great forum, great help very much appreciated.

MoAbbas, thanks for the assist!

skzekeman111, glad that worked out for you. By the way, what are you changing? When I removed mine, I did to replace the yellow signal bulbs with chrome bulbs.

^^^ Did the chrome bulbs get rid of the " egg yolk " look?

No problem. Call a couple Acura dealers around you and see if they have them in stock so you can pick them up today.
