Shouldn't need a diagnosis. There will be a flag on your VIN in their system if you're in line for it.

Yep, it's new. Acura actually called my house yesterday with a recorded message about this software update to cure the "low rumbling/growling noise between 20-40 MPH". The recording said that I should also get a noitce in the mail within 5 days and to call an 800 number if I don't.

Q: Since this growling noise has been around for awhile, is it just a nuisance or have there damage been done since we have been driving around like that for a few years?

I have an '09 SH-AWD.

Yup, got the same telephone call on Friday about a recall. I'm waiting for the letter to arrive via snail mail. Then it's back to the dealer, who just tole me they know nothing about the issue. Very disappointed about how Acura is handling this problem.

Just sharing my experience with regards to this issue, i am in Canada and i called my dealership to inquire about this recall,i was told that they had no idea what i was talking about and there is no recall that they are aware of.

I called Acura customer service and was told by the rep that they are aware of the problem and the dealership should know about it,i then asked for the service bulletien # he then put me on hold for a bit and then proceeded to tell me that he is sorry that he should not have disclosed that info and that i would be contacted at a later date..............go figure.

Phone call here too in Illinois. Dealer said the fix prevents the trans TC from locking up at lower speeds, was causing the engine to labor at low speeds before. Use S mode a lot in town so did not really notice a problem. I have also already had the prop-shaft on my AWD replaced, VERY noticable whining noise when decelerating from around 50mph, VERY common problem with bearings going bad after 20K+ miles.

Got back from DCH Acura in NY a while ago to have my propeller shaft replaced, night and day difference between them and Curry; at Curry they're also polite, but DCH gets results. Before getting it fixed in DCH I had gone to Curry 4 times and oddly they could never hear it . DCH diagnosed, ordered part(s), scheduled me and installed promptly. I no longer hear the whistling noise from 20-50mph. If it weren't for the 1:15hr drive, I'd go to them for all service.

Just spoke with Acura customer service about this recall. I was told this is not a "recall" but a "warranty extension". Acura will warranty the "transmission" (her words) for 8 years or 105k miles. If you bring the car into the dealer they will determine if the problem is present and will then reprogram and/or replace parts as necessary. Have your VIN ready if you call Acura (1-800-382-2238 option #4).

Good luck - hope this helps.
