Rear view camera... ON?

Has anyone figured out how to enable the rear view camera so it is always on... even in drive?

I saw this posted once but I haven't tried it yet. Let us know if it works.

Push cancel/map/menu buttons at the same time
Now you're in the diagnostic menu
Select monitor check
Then monitor adjustment

some how the reverse camera did not disengage when I put it into drive.

it was cool driving and seeing the road behind me.

I deduced the correct procedure today. (2012)

With Navi on and beyond the welcome screen:

1. Press the Cancel, Guide/map, and Dest/Route buttons at the same time for 3-5 seconds.
2. At the "Select Diagnosis Items" screen, using the rotatory dial select "Detail Information & Setting".
3. Select "Monitor Check".
4. Select "Monitor Adjustment".
5. Select "Rear Camera".
6. Camera should stay on till "Return" is selected.

I used it to help my 16yo son judge his road line centering technique by looking in the screen. It was pretty cool looking at 60 mph.

Damn that's great! I just tried it today, and it really is interesting to finally be able to watch what's happening behind you without having to put the car in reverse.

haha at first I thought this was idiotic... but now I love it. I find myself turning it on all the time just for fun. So nice to see more angles of what's going on around me. And it looks pretty badass when you're gunning it down the road.

I can even turn it on while driving! don't need to be stopped/parking brake on!

Good to know it can be activated once the car is moving.

I drive a coach bus on the side and it allows us to turn on the camera at any time. Its a good angle and has an obnoxious camera washer that I may press when cars tailgate me..but it is an interesting thing to see the road behind from the view of the bumper

I installed a 2 channel dash cam today and with it I have option of seeing front and rear, front only, or rear only views on the LCD display. Took less than two hours to install as I had trouble getting the wires tucked under the side curtain air bag.

This is the model I have:

Amazing. So it uses the existing navi display, existing rear rear cam, and a new front cam??
