Rear License Plate

Trying to search and get suggestions on what most people use to replace the bulb on the rear plate to a white light like they have on the Lexus cars.

What do most TL owners go with?

Yup, a simple 194/168 LED bulb. Extremely easy mod that takes no more than 2 minutes! Looks great too!

Here's what I have. Simple (single LED), produces the perfect amount of white light, and has lasted quite some time. I have the same bulbs on my TL, S2000, and recently put them on my wife's 13 Accord.

Not going with red. I want white like on the Lexus cars but not too bright.

Think I may look at getting -

Not too bright? Then don't go with 18 LED's lighting up your plate. 2 is more than enough. But yes, definitely don't do red...LOL. Good luck!

I buy a lot of these and sell/give at meets or what not back then. It's pretty bright and has like a 5-6K color temp, so looks like those newer Lexus. Also very cheap on eBay, but China sellers, so it takes awhile to ship to the states.

yea.. i rather go with traditional colors.. factory or some white.. but never red.. cops will pull my ass over for being "unique" and then along with that give me a ticket for tint, exhaust and no front license plate.... rather not.. it just attracts and gives out attention... why put a big red target on yourself? unless you live in a state that literally doesnt care.

Going Red would be like signaling a cop to pull me over. Mods like that don't go over very well in my state.

you are right

i got pulled over couple weeks ago at 11:30pm I was coming back from Gym. I forgot my wallet at home so
1-- going 90 in 60 zone
2-- tinted front windows
2-- failure to produce licence, insurance and registration

I Thought I am totally screwed today

but first thing Cop said " cool car like your plate"

he was like 25-30 age
he let me go just with a warning no ticket

Here too. Anyone remember underbody lighting? Highly illegal here as well.
Funny though you can run 25% tint here in Oregon and they'll never bat an eyelash
