Rear Diff Service Intervals - when should it be done?

Could you please share at what mileage intervals your rear diffs have needed their first and second service?

After an hour long conversation with Acura corporate today, they refuse to tell me anything but service according to the maintenance minder. Unfortunately this doesn't work for me, as I don't recall the last service code. Another dealer is now telling me it should be done every 15k miles which should be approximately reflected so in the maintenance minder.

I'm posting this here because the owners manual does not state the maximum allowable maintenance interval or even suggested intervals for the rear diff, and I can think of no other way of otherwise finding this out.

I think the 15k miles sounds about right. Personally I do mine (along with tranny and front transfer case) twice a year, once in spring when the temperature stabilizes above the freezing point (up here in the north it can get crazy cold LOL) and then in the fall after a summer of hot driving. And all this regardless of miles. Regardless of what the maintenance minder tells you to do, weather conditions play a huge role and I doubt that the computer takes weather and ambient temperatures into consideration. All and all it doesn't take too much effort to drain and refill, any oil change shop can do these things. The rear differential takes 3 bottles of ATF DW1 and the front transfer case takes one bottle Honda gear oil GL5. Not a biggie.

I do mine once a year, and time it with an oil change in the fall. I also do the tranny fluid at the same time. I do 15K a year roughly.

I also decided to do my rear diff service at 15k miles, and I don't even trust the maintenance minder to remind me anymore.

I've driven my car for 51k miles (currently 107k), and the maintenance minder has yet to alert me to a #6 service (rear diff fluid) even though I was feeling some weird shuddering from the rear diff under hard cornering a few months ago. Changing the fluid fixed the problem, but now I'm just sticking with a 15k interval.
