If you purchase the midnight chrome sport grill and rear trim when purchasing a new TL (and installed by dealer), do you still get the original grill and rear trim to keep (in case you ever wanted to switch back or perhaps paint)?

no. although i dont see why not.... its not like they are selling those things on ebay for big $$

It doesn't make sense to me either. Wouldn't the buyer have paid for both? I don't think they subsidize the cost of the other ones by taking back the originals, do they? I think if I go that route, I'll need to make sure that part of the deal is that I get those. Otherwise, I'll just buy them after the purchase and have them put on.

By the way…is it hard to replace those parts yourself?

If you're comfortable working on your car, then you shouldn't have a problem. I was able to do both the front grill & rear trim piece along with the body kit in an afternoon. Ideally, you'll want to remove the front & rear bumpers to replace the pieces, although some have managed without doing that. I found it a lot easier to work on them by removing the bumpers.
