Push start button is being weird

So I was driving and pulled over, turned to Parking mode, hand brake on, pressed the start button trying to turn the engine off. However, it just goes to accessory mode(like when the car is off and u just press it once). i kept trying to tab it and tab it again to turn it off but it just keep switching from accessory to ON to accessory. and it tell me to double tab the pushstartbutton to close the car completely.

This only happens sometimes too. Any idea why? and how i can fix it? It never happened before i took it into the dealership for Torque converter change.

If I remember right you have have your foot on the brake pedal to get it to start and to shut off.... I had trouble figuring it out when I first got mine too

Now I'm second guessing myself, but I'm pretty sure you don't have to touch any pedal to turn it off. Although could be different for 6MT vs 6AT.

Are you sure the car was in park before you pressed the button? If the car is not in park when you press the button, the engine will shut off, but the ignition stays on with the message you described in your post.

The easy fix is make sure the car is in park and press the button with your foot on the brake to start the car and then press the button again to shut off the car.
