Production of 09 TL

So I have a lease offer from 1 dealership in Long Island. I was told by the sales rep that they were only receiving only 3 SH_AWD tech cars, and the production dates on them would be 5/13/09, so i left a deposit to hold my color combo. So just to see if i was getting a fair deal, I actually followed someones advice and went to DCH Montclair NJ dealership. I was given an almost insulting lease offer and told that Ohio factory which produces the TL's was not building anymore 09's...My question is: IS the DCH Montclair NJ dealership blowing smoke up my a** about the factory not building 09's? My dealer in LOng Island said they have 3 SH-AWD tech coming mid may with 5/13 production dates...So who do ya trust

I don't have any inside info, but I know they stopped making 09 TSX and RL basically done. The 08 TL hit in late August of 07 so I woudl think by July they will end 09 production, I also think the AWD being so low volume for them that there won't be many more. So DCH was bad huh, figures and they have so many cars. Maybe that explains their attitude, they have the volume of cars and can dictate some prices. I dealt with that here in GA becasue no one had many cars, each dealer had 1-2 max so they were asking close to MSRP. I paid about $1000-$1500 over invoice for my AWD in late January. Also if the LI dealer say 5/13 production then it will eb 2-3 weeks at least before he has them so you're looking at June.

This is an old post, but shows how they were cutting manufactuering, it alsmo mentions June production of TLs, but at low volumes:

I surprised that you guys down in the states are running short on AWD's cause up here my dealer has over 30 Tl's on the lot and at least 8 are awd techs. I was bored waiting for my loaner to be ready when my car was in on Monday for service so I walked the lot. Im just surprised because usually Canada gets screwed and doesnt get enough cars. I do have to say I saw the Grigio Metallic AWD for the first time in the show room and the 4G is growing on me a little more each day.

Grigio (with Umber interior) ROCKS!!! Hard to believe there are that many AWD on any 1 lot anywhere... I've been to very large dealerships in SoCal that have only 2. Something's "fishy" in CA(NADA)!!!

It's true, AWD + TECH TL 09 is especially very very limited

FWD = everywhere, so def gonna get tougher to find.

Ya I think it may have to do with the 50 Grand price tag and the higher rates on the awd

40+ SH-AWD Tech at 2 dealers in VA

One dealer in Chantilly,VA has over 30 SH-AWD Tech (sticker $42,995) listed on their website. Another dealer in Woodbridge, VA has 11 of these on their website.

So maybe these are rare in some parts of the country; but not near me.

I was at the Woodbridge, VA dealership about a week ago and they had a complete row of 12+ SH-AWD alone and the Basics all over the parking lot, hunting for customers. I'm glad I have my combination, but they had almost all the color combinations at that time. I think I will drive down again this weekend and see what they have.

Have you checked out Keyes? They were loaded with AWDs when I was searching for a car. They had anywhere from 10-20.

Keyes in Van Nuys you mean? If so, in Jan/Feb'09 when I was in final stages of the "search" (bought 2/27/2009), they had 2 SH-AWD w/Tech, that's it, only 2, and they kept telling me they were only getting 2-3 more before Acura killed production in April/May, so not sure how they EVER obtained 10-20!

I went there 3 times and almost bought a PMM w/Umber, but the GM there pulled a bait and switch on me and renigged on a deal he'd offered. Of course, 2 weeks later he called me saying he'd give me the original deal, but by then I'd found proper, honest service at Valencia and they delivered my car to me... slick, 21st century style purchase!

Dealership are always full of bullsxxt

If they don't have the color or package option you want, either they get it ASAP, or you just walk away...

Guys, you gotta remember your they one paying for... and never ever leave a deposit or any money in advance...

Be smarter, always do you homework and go to the dealership and ripped them off.... and not get played...

When I bought my 07 TL-S back in July 2007, I walked out with the best OTD price... 36,800 (including High Performance Tire, sales tax, dmv, destination, etc.) Most people I know paid more close to 40K before or after July...

So, in other word, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

Besides, now with the economic recession, they should be begging you to buy a car from them....

Honesly 4G TL look hideous, Infinity G37 Sedan AWD has more power (New Gen Engine w/ CVT and 6 speed) and has more power...

When I went there in March, they had like 2 of each in every color.

Dont see why the 09's would not still be in production. Personally, I would be more concerned about the deal than where the car came from as long as they get it. Pay attention to the sales price, not necesarrily the lease price. Terms and downpayment can be manipulated, so it's just easier to see where the better deal is coming from. I know a few people who have had success just telling dealers what they want to pay (within reason), until they found one that needed the sale, some even went out of state, but got a much better deal. I think $1k over invoice for this car, at this time in the model year with the slow sales in general is fair.

This will obviously depend on where you are. We can't get AWDs here to save our lives, and we wouldn't sell the one we have at that kind of price. However, if you wanted one of our 30 base TLs that's a different story.

The 2009s are still in production, but they are making them in much smaller quantities. They also seem to be having difficulty evenly distributing the various trim levels around the country. For example, we have 42 FWD TLs but only one AWD and two AWD HPTs.

When I decided to check out the AWD TLs at the local dealer, there were 10 of them in the back, 5 of them Tech. That was 3 weeks back. My guess if someone doesn't mind a little travel, good deals are to be had!

A few weeks ago when I bought my Palladium AWD+Tech a dealer (who didn't have that color) said there were only four in that color in all of CA. But I found two dealers in San Diego that had them. So I'm not sure I believe that SD had half of the entire CA stock of Palladium AWD+Tech cars. But later that day the inventory went down one.

Not sure, I know when I was getting what I thought was bull from dealers I called and searched every dealer in GA and found they were telling the truth, seems warmer climates the dealers did not order many AWD cars.

Not sure if it is that or that they are not allocating any to us. We want more than what we have and want a more balanced inventory.

1 of 17 = AWD @ Flow Acura, Winston-Salem, NC
2 of 42 = AWD @ Hendrick Acura, Charlotte, NC
9 of 68 = AWD @ Leith Acura, Raleigh, NC
3 of 31 = AWD @ Appletree Acura, Asheville, NC
6 of 52 = AWD @ Crown Acura, Greensboro, NC

On-line inventory in NC = 21 of 210 = AWD

Since when did the G37 have a CVT?

The G 37 is a fine car, but to me, it has no personality. Nissan/Infiniti cookie cut their interiors. The Maxima and G have the damn near the exact same dash....Anyway, I'll be taking possesion on a SH AWD tech last week of May/first week of June...(production date May 13th)

With all the cars in stock and lackluster sales, I think Honda/Acura would cut back on their production.
http://www.acura.com/PressReleaseArt...r=2009&id=4978

Sales are certainly poor compared to 2008, but when compared to the first year 2004 3G, dismal, to put it mildly. I believe @ 78,000 2004 were sold, while the 2009 TL will be lucky to break the 30,000 mark. Poor timing with the economic situation, along with the negative press releases on the body style.

Looking at AutoTrader and entering AWD, it looks ike there are @ 1300 AWD out of the 6,000 TL's listed.
