Premium GAS?

Is it necessary to always put premium octane 91 gas in the 2009 Acura TL w/tech FWD? Could you just put regular in? Will it really hurt the car?

This topic has been covered many, many, many times. Acura wants us to use premium fuel due to the high compression motors. You can use lower octane but you will get less fuel mileage, so you lose the savings at the pump.

you think you'd be saving by pumping regular, but in reality you would be losing.

According to Acura, the TL requires 91 octane. Why wouldn't you put in premium? It'll only save you about $5 the most for a full tank of gas.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am new owner and was just curious. Makes sense to use premium.

Or you could put premium every other time like I know some people do. Problem with that is that you need to remember what you filled up with the last time?

You also can extend the oil service interval to 9000 with no ill effects on the motor.

If your asking that question, you should have bought a Honda Accord. Why buy premium vehicles and skimp on premium gas?? Don't understand.

Thats right, with today's oil and today's engines, you can run an oil to 9000 miles.

I'd still go with the car's MID oil life indicator tho.
for example, my MID once told me to change the oil at 7000.
