That's a tough one to swallow. It's definitely not my cup of tea, but it's your car. Do as you please and if you like it then that is all that matters.

I'm surprised at the negative comments.

I think the chrome accessory grille has added something in my case, and I'm glad I did it. In photos it looks a little too dark, but in reality, in all kinds of lighting, it definitely looks like it is what should've been on the car all along.

I agree George...from some angles, it even blends with the car more than the stock grill because it reflects the color of the car. As soon as the weather clears I'll try to take some good shots and get them posted. I'm really liking mine too.

The biggest flaw with 4g styling is how much that grille rises above the headlights. The car would improve in many people's eyes if it was just toned down.

As stated before apparently the grills on the '11 will be toned down.

Thanks for the replies. I agree it's a little bling bling, but to me it sort of completes the TL. Something about the stock grille looks like it just doesn't belong. With the grille in chrome, it makes the car look a little more upscale. Have to see it in person to really appreciate it.

That's why I haven't taken more pictures of my PM car. It's a subtle change that looks more important in the photographs.

I saw the Midnight Chrome grille on a Crystal Black TL at the dealership today. Surprisingly, it looks really good! It really was not that "bling bling" at all - trust me, I am all for understated elegance but this chrome grille really works. It somehow makes the grille LESS obvious than the original brushed chrome one. I wanted to see how it would look on the Polished Metal Metallic or the Grigio though....

See it's comments like this that Acura will never have the balls to compete with the big boys. If a Passat or a Maxima can have that much chrome why can't the TL. When you drive a product and second guess weather it has to much chrome or not one has to wonder. Anyways to each it's own, I will be joining the party soon as I purchased the midnight chrome accessories, truly believe it looks better in darker colors (car is in the shop minor bumper damage) I understand that to much chrome can also have a negative impact but the TL has the chrome appointments placed in the right area's like the door handles only being half chrome and the trim on the roof eventhough it's actually genuine SS.

That's exactly my thought. I just saw one yesterday on CBP. Very, very nice looking. I like it....a lot (and I usually don't like those types of "mods" (ron-jon, mesh), etc.

George, all the negative feedback is wrong! Love it! With all the other little hints of chrome on the care the new grille really adds to it! I think it looks best on the WDP. The back is perfect! On my grigio the entire sport grille was a little much. Left the surround chrome and the beak grigio. I think doing that to your would really finish it off! Adding a little contrast would make it perfect!

I really really think you have to see the grill and back in person to judge it. Perhaps a photo from a professional photographer could do it justice, but I haven't seen any.

When I was at the dealer yesterday they had the grill on the showroom RL and it looked great. I think if it was just normal chrome it could be blingy, but the darker midnight chrome is not. It is very complementary of the car. I am also one to believe the midnight chrome grill and back should come stock.

I would also like to add that I added the option to my new 2010 TL SH-AWD TECH in basque red pearl. I can't wait, I have the car now but they had to order the parts and I will get them this next week.

I have ordered this grill for my car. I have seen them on the A-Spec cars and they look great, way better than the stock which I just hate, and I have to change it.

For those who wants to get the Sport Chrome Grille, check this out on eBay, ~$240 shipped for both front and rear. I should wait now to get it. It costed me $290 last month.

That's too "bling" for my taste. I was considering getting this but thought it was closer to the black chrome (darker) on my infiniti. Oh well to each their own.

So an FYI...

Ron Jon is no longer making the grills. How do I know? I bought one of the last 5 last night and was informed that these are it and he wont be making more.

It should be delivered this weekend. Not sure when Im going to have it installed though because Im on a long business trip, but I can't wait!!

Good bye beak!

I may get the chrome for the back part only, or I will just have it painted the body color at the same time that I get the grill done.

What do you guys think for the back? Chrome or body color? I have a CBP and am leaning towards body color.

Found a couple of threads on this. Thinking about buying this as BRP, NHB, PM are my favorites for this grille. Not a fan of the white with chrome.

So for 780$ + shipping, does it come painted or is it just primed?

I actually, liked the silver beak on my WDP, when paired with the blacked headlights
I have the black and have this grill, and to me makes all of the difference. IMO, it does not look as good on the lighter colours.

Just primed. He recommended having the body shop check the quality of the prime as well but said it should be fine and ready for paint.

When I called and ordered, he said he had already sold 2 besides mine, so there may be just 2 left...

Anything primered in the front of the car should be primered with a coat with Epoxy primer. and $780 for a grille...

For a piece thats never going to be produced again, I don't mind the price. All of the competition products look like crap or look the same as the original beak.

I can afford it so I went for it and I know I will have no regrets . This is something that I wanted to do when I purchased the car and the fact that Ron discontinued the product was just more motivation to purchase it.

Now I just need to get one of the 50 kits that he will be selling...

Personally i like the way the Midnight Chrome package looks on the WDP,perhaps it is because my car looks exactly like the Op and i have had nothing but admiration and positive comments from all my co workers,it does not look bling at all because depending on the light the looks vary a lot but to each their own i guess.

If you really wanted it you could've gotten it primed + painted for 780+shipping(oem pearl painted is $805) before they got discontinued. I thought it would come at least painted to the color of your choice for $780 being that the primed only was selling for $645. that's a $1000 grill you gonna be rocking after paint.

but hey if you like it then that's all that matters. it is a nice piece but for that price/outcome of the grill i can do without.

Nodnarb,

The sports grill looks great on your car. It's the best grill option for the TL. I had a RJ on my TL for a while but the car lost something (maybe it's personality) by adding the RJ, I sold it on ebay after a few months. I finally settled on the sports grill and loved it. I was going to buy another RJ to re-sell if they were no longer being made but the price increase changed that decision.

When I first saw the sports grill I thought it was a bit "blingy" but after installing it on my car and having it a day or two to get used to it, I liked it better than all other grill options including RJ and painted OEM. The price was reasonable and the installation wasn't bad. Acura should have used the midnight chrome sports grill instead of the satin finished stock grill on the 4th gen cars. Pictures don't do the grill justice you have to see it on the car to appreciate the looks.

I'm sick of all of this beak stuff. When the 09's first came out, it was a big change that took a lot of getting used to. Now there are many beaks out there now on many different Acuras and they are no longer unusual. It's just progression in auto design. The sports grill bling adds to the look of the car. You have a great looking car and thanks for sharing the pics.

Hey OP

Did you install the grille yourself, or trust it to the dealership?

Thanks!
