in my experience, buying from an American OEM site/dealer and having it shipped really doesn't save anything plus, most Canadian dealers will give you a deal on the installation if you buy it through them.

that being said, I'm subbing to this thread hoping for someone to prove me wrong!!

Do the '12 TL not use a piece for the rear bumper?

I live in Ottawa. When I buy parts from the US, I ship it to Ogdensberg and take the 45min drive up to pick parts up. Saves me a buttload of money. My tires cost me around $550 new even after conversion and taxes for a set versus 1010tires wanting $890 for the same set.

I ordered my lip kit from curry acura and they shipped it to Ogdensberg where I picked it up. Install was a breeze.

This is great info guys, thanks very much....I'm not a TL owner yet but am actively looking for a low milage '12 in Graphite... I was holding out for one with the aero kit, but now I know if I can find a good deal I can purchase the body parts after the fact 👍👍P.S. I am learning a ton on this site already, thanks again

I recently looked into this in Sept of this year. I contacted about 3 different dealers in the US (think NY/NJ area, Florida and then west coast). I don't recall names, but basically they were the most recommended based on reviews. After factoring the exchange rate, uplift for currency on my Visa, cost of shipping - I wasn't really getting a deal. Now that said, I did work with a local dealer on a list of parts (aero kit, remote starter, block heater, rear seat cover etc) so they did cut me some slack which made it more advantageous.

I'm close to Buffalo, so I even looked into shipping to the US. Because of the size of the aero kit, and I got the impression it was in multiple boxes (fyi my old 3G was in a single box) they couldn't get a deal on freight.

Lastly, the only other option I was thinking of doing was just taking the car to a dealer across the border and getting the work done. But I stayed away from that as well because I didn't want to deal with warranty issues for the remoter starter install. And I can by picky, so if there is something i'm not happy about something, I want to take it to the dealer for fixing or adjustment.

Just my two cents.

I did what gramzee mentioned above which is to talk to the local dealer and asked them to get close to the US price. They were flexible and were willing to come down in price. Probably worked in my favour as well that they had the kit in stock and showed them that I was serious in buying.

How much was the remote starter install in Canada? I'm trying to get my hold on an oem one and not aftermarket.

AckTL05 doesn't ship to Canada, anymore.

Even when he did, $1120 USD convert to CAD is around $1300.

Depending on how close you are to the border, you'll save a lot more money picking it up from there.

You can do what I did and install it in Buffalo.
I had my kit ordered from OEMAcuraParts Tim, and had it shipped and installed it at his house.

I bought mine for $950 USD shipped to Ogdensburg, NY. Not sure if the price is exact right now but conversion plus ontario tax comes to $1227 Canadian.
