NY/NJ area pricing?

I was the first one out of Acura of Ramsey NJ on 9/24 with a 09 TL. I got an 09 tech, Royal Blue. I paid like $200 under sticker price sadly, but they threw in the trunk mat, wheel locks and splash guards. They wouldnt budge much from the sticker.

better yet , go to edmunds.com, forums, acura, TL, prices paid.. here people will actually put the price they paid and the region.. it gives you a round about price.. not a questionable "TMV" price, cuz who knows what the heck that is. I know the TMV price didn't reflect my RL or TL price paid...

Either way, you're not going to get more than $800 off, whether it's a discount or combination of accessories. It just came out - why waste your time and gas to drive around looking for an extra $200 off?

Go to consumerreports.org and buy a $14 report on the car. It outlines the MSRP, dealer cost, invoice, tech price, rebates if any, and dealer holdback. Show it to the salesperson and you'll catch him with his pants down already. Bottom line dealer can sell a fwd tl w/tech for about 35500 and break even. Offer a few % above and you have a deal. I got a fwd tl w/tech for 36500.

I love when people come in and show me our invoice on a certain car. They THINK we'll get red in the face or something, meanwhile I'll tell them I would've showed them the same number for free. There's no point in hiding any numbers these days. If you want to buy a car for invoice or just over, build your own fleet company and start a business. If you want to outwit a salesman, then work on your negotiating skills. By bringing in a $14 dollar invoice report you look like a fool cuz you just wasted your money.

Especially in this economy, there is absolutely no reason for anyone to pay more than a few hundred over invoice unless you are buying an exotic or limited production vehicle.

People dont understand that other people need to make money..
How is a dealership suppose to stay open if they sell everyone a car for the price that they got it for? The dealership has to pay for electricity, rent, and all that other stuff you have to pay for to keep a dealship open.
Then the salespeople need to make money also and alot of dealships pay just commissions (like 20% of whatever the dlr makes on the car).
So if the salespeople sell the car at onvoice then they make ZERO.
How are they suppose to feed there family?
People that buy cars dont think about that.

It's up to the dealer to cover their overhead, it's up to me to keep as much of my hard-earned money as possible. Using the free-market system to your benefit and being an educated consumer is nothing to feel guilty about. There are plenty of un-educated consumers who overpay to keep the dealers in business.

That's all fine and dandy, but if you came into our showroom with an invoice printout and a smirk on your face, you'd be sent packing. In Ontario, people use Car Cost Canada for their invoice pricing. What they also give you is the advice that the dealer usually will charge you 3-4% over their cost. Take a $40,000 TL, multiply by 4% and you pay $1600 over invoice - is that too much? The most we will discount right now is $1000 on a base FWD model. That leaves the dealer with $2200 profit...is this unreasonable for a car that just came out?

$500 over is the money on the FWD. AWDs are $1k off sticker right now. But that is the Houston market. They might still be getting sticker for AWD up north.
Just go online and sent a quote request to about 4 dealers and tell them you are willing to pay $500 over and a serious buyer. At least one will jump on it.

Congrats!! That's a smokin car!! My GSM just bought same car but silver / ebony. He's still flip flopping on the body side moldings. I personally like them. Tends to break up the large doors.

Thanks Acura GM. I agree, it does break up the large doors. I also think it gives nice taste to the car. IMO, the car appear naked without them as every car I've ever owned had side body moldings.
