Everyone familiar with Honda/Acura's product cycle already knows there will be no change for the 2013 TL.

Exactly. Expect no change until a year after the new Accord is released, since the TL is built on that platform.

Why would you want a change in the first place? You just bought a 2012 TL. Don't you want your specific TL to be the most up-to-date model on the streets?

I read it somewhere in this forum that the number TL sold is going up. People actually start buying after the 2012 front grill redesigned. There's no reason to change.

I've been thinking about getting a new TL but I'm wanting to wait until a redesigned model comes out..

We even got an extra year "free ride" having bought our 2012 way back in March of 2011.

We bought an '08 at the end of 08 shortly after the 09's came out. We'd have bought an 09, but didn't like the grille. Some did like it, but lots more didn't and Acura listened after their TL sales tanked. Introducing the '12 six months early, and wiping that (IMO hideous) smile off its face was likely a decision driven by the marketing dept to regenerate interest in the TL again. - and it worked -

I know this is practically a religuous issue with some 09/10/11 owners, but fact is Acura took a beating in the trade press and an even worse beating in their showrooms for those 3 years with sales already depressed by a down economy. Whether you liked the 09/10/11 didn't matter. What mattered was that most prospective buyers didn't like it and voted with their wallets.

Like we say here in Texas, "My vote cancels out y'alls"

To be precise, it was only an extra 6-month "free ride" for the 2012 TL, and for most MMC release Honda/Acura vehicles.

Probably a 5 year run. So most likely 2014?

I'm in the select few that prefer the pre-MMC look. Once the grille is taken care of it's a much better looking vehicle IMO than the newer ones. The new ones are toned down too much.

Just put down a deposit yesterday for a 2012 SH-AWD 6MT Tech. Good to know it'll be at least 2014 until any changes, as expected.

Hey there, new to the board, had my 2012 TL SHAWD since last August. No surprise on having no changes, but is anyone else peeved the smaller intro accura had pandora and text to speach? That was the only drawback I saw when I got the car, I would really like to have that in the TL.

I believe most people are expecting a re-designed 2014 model to be released next year sometime (probably the fall).

That's because this generation TL's been out since 2009. The ILX and RDX are re-designed models/generations. Unless they decide to add it to the 2013 TL, you'll probably see it in the supposedly re-designed 2014 TL.

I've heard rumors of Acura replacing the current TSX and TL with a TLX in 2014.

Kind of a given. Not due for MMC or model flip. 99-03. 04-08. 09-13. See a pattern?

Originally rumors were that the ILX was going to replace the TSX, but the TSX is selling way too well, in my opinion, to be replaced.

My dealer told me that 2013 model will disable the ability to set navigation route destination while driving - apparently due to some government regulation.

This would be an absolute TRAGEDY. Acura and Hyundai are amongst the few manufacturers who allow navi adjustments while the vehicle is in motion. Getting rid of this functionality would be a huge disappointment.

I wholeheartedly disagree with Acura doing away with the touchscreen as well...for "fingerprints".

e-mail and texting are really all the '12 is missing IMO...that said, I'd still like to see a supercharger option

Surprised they didn't mention anything about the changes they made to get the safety rating up from 2 to 4 stars?

That is exactly what I noted in "one thing could change" in the new owners survey this morning. But I'm still on the dealer tank of gasoline so maybe I will adapt.

Let 'em run the RLX and ILX for a year or two, discover any kinks from any changes made there; then retrofit any proven improvements onto the future TL when the time is right.

When I purchased a Prelude SH from Honda in '97, I think it was the next-to-last year the car was made. Kept it for 15 years past that, no problem, and sold it at a perfectly reasonable trade-in (surprisingly better than I'd anticipated).

So I wouldn't sweat "obsolescence" at all, nor worry about some fundamental missed capability.

Eventually Siri may be integrated into future Acuras, that'd be cool, but again, that's a minor tech gizmo thing, no reason to pine for the fjords.

You either have the screen in a sub optimal spot to allow touchscreen adjustment, or you have it in the perfect spot, but require controls to be within easy arms reach... pick your poison, but i'd rather have the screen up high and back like it is, rather than having to stare at the shifter to see the screen...

I still don't understand why they haven't done a recall on the 09/10/11's to replace the beak. As soon as those 2012's are available used, the 09/10/11 owners will despise Acura for their resale value tanking...

I can't get over how perfectly the rear of the 4th gens is. I look at it lustfully. The 2012 front is tolerable, but... 4th gen side is not that great as 3rd... too weird with the sloping windows, seems oriental or something. Pls just make 5th get with: 2012 front (so it look fresh) but a bit of a-spec kit flavor for viciousness, 3rd gen side, and 4th gen rear-end. that's all i want

One change is in colors, but not hugely.

-Taupe interior now called Graystone
-Forged Silver/Mayan Bronze (haven't been offered in a while) finally off the list
-Fathom Blue with Graystone interior (first offered on the ILX) now for TL, all models
-6MT cars still offered only in Crystal Black, Graphite Luster, Silver Moon and Bellanova White

The rest remains the same.

i think the 09/10/11 front looks more agressive then the 12...and even better if the beak is painted....however both looks good to me
