Hi guys, Long time lurker here. I was looking for an SH-AWD Tech TL. I was originally planning to look for a Used/CPO 2010 with around 30k miles. With the incentives that are going on right now, would it make sense to get a new 2012 with the 0.9% APR? The acura dealer gave me a price of 37,800 for 2012 SH-AWD Tech. And another 1000 competitor bonus because we own an Infiniti. He said he might go down a 100 or 200, but not more than that. That seemed a bit high compared to the deals some people got here recently. They offered me 5K for a 2004 Civic Sedan (86K miles), which I think is low also.
Now, I see the prices listed for used 2010 SHAWD Techs around 29-30K. With the interest for used around 2.5-3%, would I be better off buying new in the long run? I do plan to keep it for atleast 5-6 years.
I did look at the "Sign in" post, but the prices there are pretty varied.
Should I negotiate a new 2012 SHAWD Tech and to how much?
What price should I be looking for a used/CPO 2010 SHAWD Tech with around 30k miles?

So the price point you are at right now is 36,800 with the competitor bonus. What price point are you at with taxes/fees/registration? What is the kbb/edmunds price on your Civic?
I would go with the new car because you get the full factory warranty since you plan on keeping the car for a while.
Here's a list of invoice prices (it may vary on location):

Thanks Domm. Total OTD price will be around 39368 (with 6% tax, registration and 1K competitor bonus towards down payment - after the tax and fees are applied).
KBB trade-in value for my civic is 6,438 for fair and 5,588 for good. They say it is somewhere between fair and good. There are a cpl of minor dings and one with rust. Clean 1-owner carfax.

The new car price is excellent. I would definitely take that.
As far as the trade in, have you thought about selling the Civic privately to get a better deal?

I have to agree that the new car price is great! Don't rush into things though because you want to look at the total deal (including the TL and Civic). You may be getting a great deal on the TL, but can lose money on the civic. If he says he might go down another $200, then make him do just that! Make him go up $2-300 on the civic so you'll get roughly a "fair" value price on your civic, which isn't too bad. If you don't want to sell it privately, you're going to have to let the dealer make some money off you.
Thanks for the replies guys. I bought a brand new SHAWD Tech Graphite/Ebony. I called around and got a great deal from Rosenthal Acura in MD. It's a 3 hour drive, so I didn't want to drive the civic and risk getting a very low offer for trade in. I took the train and drove back in the new Acura. I am going to sell the civic privately.
My first impressions: The drive is amazing. SHAWD kicks butt in corners. Overall size is impressive. The amout of room just in the drivers seat is great.
I have to complain about the quality of materials in general. We have a 2011 Infiniti FX35 and it has a much higher build quality (things like inside plastics, door weight, door handles and so on). Still, no regrets at all. I am enjoying the car.
