Need your help about OEM touch up paint
Folks,
So I found a 3/4 inch wide scratch/chip on my front bumper a couple days ago after going by some construction area where lots of trucks carrying rocks/stones last weekend. I went to a dealer nearby (not where I bought the car) to buy a touch up paint pen. The parts manager gave me one that says orchid white on his computer but my car is Ballanova white pearl and he told me that has to be the right one as it is the only white paint for TL. I took it home and testing it on a plastic cap first and found it is too white-ish to my car paint an it does not have a pearl effect either. The touch up paint isn't something really expensive but I would want them to get the right one at least. Can i kindly ask if anybody that knows the correct paint code for 2012 Ballanova white pearl?
Thanks for your help.

I did google it and the code turned out to be the same as the one they gave me but for some reason, it just doesn't have the pearl appearance to me. I will take a better look during day-time tomorrow.

Shake the paint really really well then apply 5-6 coats waiting about 30 mins. between coat. It's a pain in the ass but with white pearl you have to do that to get a half ass decent coat. It's too transparent.

thanks for all your replies. I tried to work with it and the result (with the pen style touch up) isn't anywhere near good. I found it pretty strange as I waited overnight before applying the clear coat and still once the tip touched the paint surface, it almost seemed like to dissolve the white paint.

I agree. Leaving those long or wide scratches up to the pros is the better way to handle it. Otherwise you'll need to remove the excess with a razor blade after it has dried and buff the hell out of it. There is a 3000 grit out on the market now that will help with wet sanding too.
DRColor includes a sheet with thinner on it to solve this problem, but if you are not carefull it will also remove the middle of the touch up as well. If your going to do mutiple spots, it works better if you use a partner to follow behind you to remove the excess while you hit the other spots on the car. Otherwise the stuff dries too quickly.
