need new taillight - OEM or generic or used?
I need to buy a new tail light as someone backed into me and cracked mine.
Most dealers want about $280-300 for an OEM unit.
I found a really nice looking used one for $175. i'm tempted to buy it as i'll save $100 and i can't see how anyone woudl know the difference...the used one looks fine.
I also found these guys..
2009-2011 Acura TL Tail Light Passenger Side at 1A Auto.com
they sell a "new" one for $160...but i'm sure this is not an OEM part. it's probably a generic..if I was buying a set i'd be tempted, but i'm worried the color fo the plastics may not match OEM correctly..anone try one of these?
i figure a NEW one might look too bright and not match my "old" one that is on my 2009... a used one might actually match the best... ??

I backed into my trash can in my 06. Doh, what an idiot. My neighbor saw it happen to and yelled, " I saw that" lol. Anyway I bought a new one from rockauto.com and installed it myself. I had to take the bumper off to do it. Worth saving the money. My wife drive the car one day and I was behind her and noticed the replacement light pattern was slightly different. Hard to explain but either way I would do I again.

I purchased two used Original when I was doing the taillight mod, from separate vendors. After a good buff they looked brand new again and you cannot tell the difference between them.
No need to remove the bumper to replace the taillight. There is 3
or 4 nuts that holds it in place. Peel back the carpet in the trunk around the light area and you will see them.

Get a used oem piece.
Aftermarket lights generally are nowhere near the quality of oem units (hence why they are so cheap in comparison).
Get a used one. It'll last for years and it'll save your pocket book. There is zero benefit to getting a new one.
